the appeal process...

anyone know how it works? do we send representation to argue our case or is the appeal heard behind closed doors?

I'm hoping Vincent would get to say his piece in front of a panel if ever there was a more intelligent and passionate footballer it would be difficult to find one.

Unless Foy pitches up or writes something to the effect that he feels he got the decision wrong, it will merely be a paper shuffling exercise prior to them upholding Foy's decision.

Jesus if the Milijas one was upheld, what on earth makes us think this one will be overtuned?

My worries are about if they can rise the ban. I don't know what Foy's report says, but i don't think that he wrote down that he was wrong. We all saw Clattenburg in a game, after what he did to us, so imho Foy has all the backing of the FA.
Vinnie didn't argue with him, he just left and hope this counts in some way.

A journalist wrote that they have the power to increase the ban to 5 games if they deem the appeal to be frivolous. We have a good case so even if we lose I can't see them raising it. I'll lose all faith in humanity if they do.

The appeal board consists of the current united board. The same one that got Rooney off the 3 game ban when he kicked that Montenegrin from behind....

Not a chance in the world Vinny is getting this overturned. Football is fast turning into a joke sport where tackling will be outlawed. What happened to the days of common sense referring where they could just have a word in the ear of a player.

For instance will you see a softer sending off than Gaz Baz's?? Since when was a slight body check a yellow card?

I know of one in recent years beeing sent off for doing that and it was against the rags at the swamp, no suprises there really. It was that keeper that used to play for Chorlton and he did it on RVN. It was in some europa type game. He was protecting himself and got a red for it, joke really. Iv used my elbow before to protect myself and caught someone in the throat in the past. Lucky for me the ref didnt see it!!

foot up is always a free kick in normal play especially near the head. how come overhead kicks like the one micah tried to do on sunday never get penalised. i mean no defender can attempt a headed clearance v someone with 2 feet flying towards you, asking you cos u still play.

WHAT A JOKE

From the OS:

Vincent Kompany’s four-match ban for a red card in Sunday's defeat to Manchester United has been upheld by the Football Association following an appeal.

The club captain will sit out both legs of the Carling Cup semi-final against Liverpool, and the games against Wigan and Spurs in the Barclays Premier League. He will become available again for City’s trip to Everton on February 1st.

The FA’s statement read:

"An Independent Regulatory Commission has today dismissed a claim of wrongful dismissal from Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany following his red card for Serious Foul Play in the FA Cup Third Round tie between Manchester City v Manchester United on 8 January 2012. Kompany will serve a four-match suspension with immediate effect. The suspension consists of a statutory three-match suspension for Serious Foul Play plus one additional game given this is Kompany’s second dismissal of the season."

I dont think the frivolometer reached anywhere near terminal frivolity so the frivolousness factor just didnt warrant it.
