No... But let us look at 99 when we won the treble with the 'kids'.. Then when Chelsea started to buy buy buy ... We had to do things to keep pace.. But at least the players we buy are paid wages that come from within our turnover. I think I am right in saying that the players wages alone account for 110% of your entire turnover.

No let's not.

Lets do a fair comparison and discuss Ferguson's ultra expensive non title challenging team.

We can bring in the kids in the future, (and will).

You asked the question. Do you have the balls to discuss it ?

Indeed, that goes well with the pre Sky stuff when ManU were spending fortunes on players like the world record breaking transfer fee of £2.3mil for a defender called Palister

Perhaps we can discuss it for him & be 'realistic' in our comparisons, seeing as he is too scared to make that comparison.

Utd had already bought very expensive players under Atkinson, Robson etc. How much would Brian Robson at his peak cost City now ? He was already there before Ferguson started his record breaking spending spree!

What you mean like the peanuts paid for players like Whiteside, Brazil, Hughes, McClair, Ince, Webb, Wallace, Bosnich etc etc

He will never ever be welcome at our club I dont care what talent he has. He is fast becoming one of the most hated footballers in England.

Never Welcome? Did you not see the cracking header he scored .. or the follow up to the saved pen while all the boys in blue just stood ball watching... Sometimes other teams and fans have to learn to accept world class talent.

Do you have a selective reading problem?? I said that he has talent, it’s just a shame he is the biggest c**t in British football. As for world class talent, i get to watch plenty of it week in and week out thanks........

To be fair to them, most realistic rags admit Rooney is no world beater. A few I know who are genuine have already said that they need to stop pretending Shrek is still a young kid who will eventually turn out to be a world class striker.

Of course. I'm delighted to talk about Utd starting under Ferguson & discuss your original question about how we feel about our non 'organic' spending. Let's talk about the comparison shall we ?

To be fair, he's not talking about home grown players, but about organic growth in a financial sense.

Oh you mean like the late 50's when there was a sudden swell of support to boost the coffers because of sympathy which got milked year on year?

What you mean how they could afford to sign Schmeichel, Bruce, Pallister, Hughes, Irwin, Ince, Phelan, McClair, Webb, Wallace, etc etc etc with gates similar to ours now ?

Lads u hit the nail on the head with the Ron Atkinson spending and massive fergie spending at the start. I'm 31 and a lot of my generation don't even know that. They are so wrapped up in the "we don't spend"spin they don't realise. Top point with keanes wages as Well being more than all ours. Another one is, remember the 2-1 with erikson at old Trafford . Fergie banged on pre match about us spending . Then brought 2 subs on( carrick and Anderson ) who combined cost more than our whole team! Spending was never mentioned then. We all know it's not possible to challenge for the title without spending. Norwich were the last team to do that, so united went out and broke the transfer record again with cole etc to get rid of them.
Personally, all my cousins and uncles etc are all big reds who follow united everywhere, for whatever reason my dad decided to support city!
To be fair they are top lads , every one of them said no way was it a sending off. And if was them they'd be going mad.
This weirdo on here will probably tell us he's a seasonticket holder blah blah blah. But I'm guessing he a clown with no bird, can't produce kids and even his mates can't stand him. How would u have time to go on another fans site and bang on . Are we that important now!!
If u read this weirdo, don't bother replying, I'm off to eastlands for the 3rd time in 7 days to support my team. Barely have time for this site , never mind a united one. Get yourself some pennies together and get down a brass gaff. That might chill u out and stop u from chatting turd on other fans sites. Xx

I think Kompany will be much better for the rest. Get rid of any little niggling injuries he might have picked up. His attitude has always been first class but this will have him proper riled.

Oh he's gone. Well there's a surprise.

So now we have proved once again, that when you invite a rag to discuss football related matters he is not interested because he will ALWAYS come 2nd.

Half of them don't actually know their own history, so they actually think Ferguson won the league by 'organically' bringing through a team full of kids. Half the media believe them.

I always hated this concept of us "buying" trophies. The only thing that we did was to go at the same financial level as the big clubs and this is annoying for a lot o people. They were used for us to buy players like Bosvelt, Macken, good players, but not world class and seeing that now we can bid alongside them for everyone in this world, makes them furious.
It was like yesterday when the "good management" of Old Trafford, bought Kleberson, Djemba-Djemba, Fortune and Bellion for almost 60 mil.

Has anyone ever worked out the comparative spend of City v United v Chelsea over the past twenty years?
I'm sure Cantona, Beckham, Ferdinand, Rooney, Van Nistleroy, Stam, Cole etc etc were not youth graduates. Or am I wrong?
