But Yaya's would be a blast that 99/100 times will fly over or straight into the wall. Kolarov is our only current player who takes a half decent free kick. He has the perfect balance between power and accuracy.

Getting tired of reading comments on here like "he's so one footed". He's no more one footed than Silva, and has got a better one foot than Kompany or Lescott. Micah is also so one footed. For most of us it seems worse because he is left footed.

Personally i think we have two great left backs. Having been at the game yesterday and now seen the goal replays, i think nige could have done a bit more, certainly tracking back with Rooney , if only to limit his ability to jump for the cross and he certsinly should have tried to block welbeksceffort. Shame panti isn't a little taller! He would have got the second ..

Admittedly, kolorov should have pulled out of the tackle for the third, possibly Micah would have blocked it, or Wellbeck may have screwed his shot wide.

Having pondered some of the thoughts posted in this thread, I wonder if Kolarov's best position would be as the 'libero' in the old Italian Catenaccio (if I've got the spelling right) system, which would give him the time and freedom to push forward into midfield when the opportunity arose. Obviously, he wouldn't ever be a Franco Baresi, but then who would ??

Conversely, I wonder if he could do the 'Big Nige' destruction job in midfield but with a bit more of an added goal threat, via his shooting, whenever he moved forward.

One thing is certain though, he's very stretched at full back, especially in the role that Bobby Manc wants his full backs to perform. If Kolarov can't re-invent himself in some way, his days in the Premiership look to be numbered.

He seems most suited as a wingback to me, in front of three defenders.

Absolutely. Can't pass, can't tackle. Was at fault for two out of three goals on Sunday. Even tried to shoot while he was tripping up 30yds from goal. Absolute waste of a squad space. But he can sometimes hit a free kick.

Disappointed with Kolarov because he seemed like he was finding his feet towards the end of last season.

Bobby brought him on tonight and it totally killed our left hand side i thought he would be used in an attacking role when he came on.But no we move our best left sided player over to the right where he became almost redundant.

He couldn't even do that bit right last night, blasting two cross/shots into the crowd.
