If you could teach a player

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

If you could teach a player

Postby ant london » Sun Jan 15, 2012 7:50 am

(or the team) how to do something better....what would it be?

I'd like to teach Micah how to go down when fouled.....his swallow dives are so ridiculous and actually look like the most blatant attempts to win free kicks that, even though he usually has been fouled, he doesn't get the decision in many cases.

I'd also like to drill it into David Silva that it really is OK to shoot when you are in and around the box as opposed to threading through that last inch perfect attempted pass

Dzeko to trap a ball.

Clichy and Kolarov to use their right foot for passing and tackling. Staggering that any players in the top flight (or at any professional level) should be so one footed nowadays

Exactly. If you've set up the classroom, I'd bring silva and messi in as well. Hopeless the pair of them.

I'd teach Lescott better ball control.
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

And which areas to run into when someone is about cross it.

I'd also teach Kolarov & Savic how to defend in general & Joe Hart how to kick a football into an area with the same post code as the one he's in.

I'd like to teach Tevez to warm up when asked. Despite the off field stuff, it's a crying shame we have a player of his class not playing.

x2, on several occasions I've seen Hart kick the ball straight out of play from a goal kick.

His diving makes me laff.Luv it hope he keeps it up.What gets me going about Micah is his throw ins.The others seem to wait till he gets there then he takes ages and does something shit.

I like this one Ted and I would add to Joe Hart that he should sometimes try to pass the ball to an open player instead of hoofing it up field at evry opportunity. I saw Panti doing that a lot (effectively) which is probably a European thing so Mancini should know it !!

I run a seminar on the fact that you cannot be offside from a throw-in! AJ would be my star pupil. Drag the defenders deep you dopey sod.

I'd teach the players to walk through wall's. If they couldn't grasp it I'd teach them to shimmy over, float around or dig under. Either way, they'd get past them there wall's.

I would teach Denis Suarez how to knock on Mancini's door. I would love Mancini to take a risk like against Liverpool and throw someone on to catch the opposition by surprise. Suarez would have definitely have done something in the last ten minutes of note - even to win a free kick just outside the box.
