Do we need anyone in January?

Postby Dendza » Sun Jan 15, 2012 5:42 pm

Just curious to see who would you guys want to see in City. I personally think the team is good as it is, although it would be good to buy one more striker (not necessary a "star") but in case of injuries...

A quick winger who can play on either flank and a centre-half. I'd even be tempted to go in for Alex at Chelsea (if he hasn't already left). Better than the cover we currently have.

I would have a centre half & De Rossi. We need to adjust several positions but I don't think we can realistically do that in this window. Imo DeRossi & a quality spare CB would ensure that we win the title. De Rossi on his own would probably do that.

A good GK. Hart keeps making mistakes. A wing-b and/or centre-b. Maybe a centre playmaker.

agreed about Alex...FFS if the 3.5M deal to QPR is on let's hijack it and get him in.

i believe we need a couple players this month, and it's sad that they weren't in and ready to go for the Toures departure, now made all the harder by Vinnie's suspension. Poor planning imo, OR we aren't buying anyone and Mancini has to sort it out with what he's got.

If it's the latter i think it's an act of hubris. Plain and simple.

De Rossi is not going to happen. He's using us for leverage but has no intention of coming.

Really? It's my first time to hear anyone say that Hart is bad. I think Hart is in top 5 goalies in the world.

I'd like to see a good CDM or CB. Someone who is creative, because we lack creativity mainly in attack area.

We can't be buying players just to cover for a MONTH! It's FPP plain and simple. Our accounting year end is May so sales in the next window will not go in this year's accounts, we need to sell before we even think of buying! I'm sure that is also the real reason for wanting a sales agreement now for Tevez rather than a loan to get him out of here.

I understood that the stumbling block was that they want an option to buy & we want an obligation to buy, so we won't get the money til summer anyway.

and further FFP doesn't come into effect for several years, and if we balance it right it wouldn't matter whether it's 25M for 2011/12 or the following year. Also, i'm of half the mind FFP won't even be real in a couple years anyway. Lastly, i believe winning the league is the best weapon vs. any FFP challenge as well. What would they do if we narrowly miss their targets, but won the best league in the world? i can tell you in a word what they'd do: Nothing.

cheers

I think losing Yaya will cost us the league.

Didn't think I'd be saying that at the start of the season though.

It's a lot to ask anyone who is bought in the Jan window to hit the ground running and make an immediate impact. In fact they can often upset the balance of a side.

Players are usually over-priced, so are worth it only if a club is desperate.

If can be worth it if you are buying one of your longer term targets, as long as you accept that the rest of the season could end up being a bedding in period.

So I wouldn't buy anyone we weren't going to buy anyway.

Alex on loan would be ideal.

To be honest even with injuries and MIA's we should be able to win most of our coming games.

I have a horrible feeling we will lose to Spurs at home though.
