Johnson - City failure a disaster

Manchester City winger Adam Johnson believes it would be a 'disaster' if the club failed to win the Premier League this season.

Roberto Mancini's expensively assembled squad have lost just once in the league this campaign as they bid to win their first top flight title since 1968.

Their 1-0 win at Wigan on Monday sent them three points ahead of near rivals Manchester United at the summit of the table with 17 games remaining.

Former Middlesbrough winger Johnson admits that after working so hard to get where they are today, it would be disastrous if they failed to go on and lift the Premier League trophy.

"I would be devastated if we didn't," the 24-year-old told Sky Sports News.

"Obviously the position we've got ourselves in, it is up to us not to give it away now.

"We're top of the league by three points, it is up to us to not make mistakes, but me and the lads don't really want to think about that.

"Everyone knows we deserve to be where we are now and to throw it away would be a disaster for me personally."

he's not a prick. He's just being honest. I agree with him. I'll be heartbroken if we lose the league this season after the promise we've shown.

we've broken a few records this season, it would be rather devastating if we lost it in the end so basically he's right.

This could be an interesting debate because most of us as City fans are moving into virgin psychology as regards how we as fans are going to deal with the pressure of the run in. I find myself being critical at times unnecessarily and a bit stressed out to be honest, but also really enjoying the great football and the overall buzz. However I would be fucking devastated if we lost to either manure or our nemesis spurs (have never got over 81)
Not sure I want to hear it from our players though, a little public I think.
Hoping our new rollercoaster gives us the thrill of our lives.

D'yer know, this season is a dream come true. We sit top of the League, have battered the rags into 6-1 submission and on their middin too. We have scored more goals than ever before and let fewer in. That means |I jumped for joy more than ever and have hardly felt sick at all.
This season has been the best ever season in our history, we are mega rich and have the resources to strengthen this squad with some of the greatest players in the World.
I am also watching a David Silva, who if he stays a few years longer, will undoubtedly challenge Bell as our best ever.

How the fuck could anyone but the most depressed suicidal maniac find anything in that lot to be frightened or worried about?
We are lucky...oh so lucky!!!

Spot on old timer.

We've had couple of poor results along the way but overall I've never been happier. Most weekends I'm smiling and happy because of yet another good result. That's in stark contrast to what I've been used all through my life supporting City. I'm not going to be bothered about the "big picture" or whatever but just enjoy the ride.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Excellent post John - this is the best season we've ever had, in any normal season we'd he miles ahead, but the rags are like a punch drunk boxer who doesn't know when to quit, whilst Spurs are just teasing us how close they can get like a footie version of What's the time mr wolf?

It might help our cause if he were to put a shift in from time to time rather than spouting off to the press.

It would take some getting over in the guv household, too. I'd become resigned to going year to year and decade to decade with nothing much to look forward to from City, but with such an elevation in expectation in the last two or three years my attitude has definitely changed. It used to be pretty easy to shake off City throwing away just about every chance of progress that came our way, and getting back into the Premier League a decade ago was practically a victory in itself, irrespective of how well we did there. Now things are different, and obviously much, much improved. But the sooner we win the league the better, because another season or more of this intensity would be a toil.

If we do it this season, then perhaps every time we have a bit of a set back, such as a couple of bad results or performances, I can take comfort in the fact that we have already done something I never ever dreamed we would do again. Till then, every PL match is seeming to be a kind of mini torture, with so much riding on it. When I was a kid and began supporting City, it was exciting, joyful and fun- there's not much "fun" to be had from being a nervous wreck every time we play!

A "disaster" if City don't win the league this year? He's pretty much spot on.

it doesn't matter...everyone will be up for this match. I want to smash these cunts so badly. Fucking hate them. Hate them. We have a great opportunity to make a statement esp. if the Rags drop points like i expect they may.

Nice to hear him and the other players are taking it so seriously,am a bit suprised that him and the others have not given up yet considering there is so much fixing going on against us.Nice to know they think first is still possible.

realistically, that one's a little too obvious. you needed to kinda tamp it down a bit with something more off the wall or screwy.
