Cash of the titans! Redknapp and Mancini trade insults ahead of Premier League showdown

On the whistle: Mancini traded insults with Redknapp
The tension between Tottenham and Manchester City rose dramatically on Friday as Harry Redknapp claimed anybody could win the Barclays Premier League with the money at Roberto Mancini's disposal.
Mancini hit back by telling the Spurs boss not to be jealous, and even offered to give Redknapp a loan as the two clubs prepare to meet at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Having already accused City of trying to buy their way to the title, Redknapp went further by claiming he would be disappointed if he failed to win it with the financial backing to sign players like Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez and pay them upwards of £200,000 a week.
'To be honest, you would have a chance,' Redknapp told one journalist. 'I'd fancy you to manage them. You'd win the league.

Eyes on the prize: Redknapp says City should win the title given the money they've spent

'It's a different game when you buy players and pay them £250,000 a week. If I could have Tevez today … you ain't got to be a genius, have you? I would have been very close to winning the league. I'd be very disappointed if we couldn't win it with that kind of money.
'I don't know about more than once. It's always difficult to finish above Man United. But certainly you'd fancy your chances.

In demand: Spurs couldn't compete financially against City for Aguero
'When they started talking last year about Tottenham's bid for Aguero, I thought, "What a load of nonsense". How can we afford Aguero? We ain't gonna pay £250k a week. It's not possible.

'I don't think Sheik Mansour is too bothered about the £150,000 he saves a week (on Emmanuel Adebayor's wages while on loan at Spurs from City).'
Mancini responded by cheekily offering to lend Redknapp some cash, but he pointed out that Tottenham have also spent heavily over the years. Bizarrely, he also told the Spurs boss it is better to be jealous about a woman than about money.

Five-star performance: Man City put Tottenham to the sword earlier this season
'He can borrow money from us if he doesn't have money,' joked the Italian.
'Harry isn't the first to say this. But they have bought good players. Maybe not like us in the last two years, but in the last 10 years they've bought good players and spent money like all the other teams.
'In Italy we use the word "jealous" for a woman. Not for the fact we're spending money.'
Redknapp also challenged Mancini over his habit of waving an imaginary red card on the touchline, and threatened to unleash his coach Joe Jordan if it happens tomorrow.
'I don't like it,' said Redknapp. 'I will set Big Joe on him. Joe speaks good Italian. He can talk to him.'
Mancini was unrepentant, saying: 'This is nothing for us in Italy. In Italy we move our hands. Only in England there is a problem.'

I love Mancini s response but I would also have added the fact that we have helped them get to where they are in the premiership due to our very generous donation of Adebayor.

this stuff with players and pundits and managers complaining about the money we've spent and that we are trying to buy a title is really bothering me. its all down to jealousy and envy and frustration. its something we're gonna have to deal with for quite some time but it really bugs me. it cant be the players' skills or the manager's tactics or training sessions that have helped us go top of the league, no, its the wages that we pay (and i do think some are egregious).
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.

YOU SILLY SILLY BOYS....Twitchy doesn't mean a word of it. It is all designed to exact a response, anger and unsettle the City camp. He hopes to get into the heads of the City players and to some extent the crowd.
It is such a tiny worm he is dangling that it's not even having a chomp at.

Maybe on Sunday, we'll see Mancini waving imaginary browm envelopes....or imaginary summonses.

The cheek of Droopy to have a go at a manager who has won 7 more major trophies than he has, and done it in about 18 fewer seasons.

Based on Spurs' outlay on players in the last 4-5 years even the tea lady should be able to guide them to a Top 5 position, but I suppose none of the journalists in the room would want to challenge Good Old 'Arry on his own point.

If he was winning things on a Moyes-level budget you could almost grant him the dig, but he hasn't, doesn't, & won't, and even the trophy he "bought" at Pompey was purchased with monopoly money and credit cards.
"Certainly our programme is a full one, but as a player and as a manager I've always felt that there is only one way to go into a season...and that's to try to win every game.... While we are in four major competitions we shall try to win four major competitions." - Joe Mercer

Exectly that - he's trying to divert the pressure away from him. The pressure on twitcher is huge for this game - he loses he's 8 points behind us, he draws he's still 5 points behind us, this is a must win game for twitcher, lets hope a double whammy awaits......

It was nice to hear Twitchy acknowledge that they are basically paying his wage plus bonuses though, instead of his inane bollox about us paying half.

Cheers Twitchy, and if you do want a borrow would you like it in a brown envelope, you know, just like the old days?

I quite like the fact that with the red cards for Sundays's game there are a load of brown envelopes as well......perhaps with a big £ sign on the front

It doesn't fucking matter why he's doing it; it's out of order.

City have barely said anything about Spurs all season & that twitching shyster has been on our case all season for no good reason. It's not just been about psycholgy for this game it's been about getting fucking mullered at the Lane & not being able to handle it. He doesn't do this kind of shit with the rags, just kisses their fucking arses whilst they shag him up his & then tells everybody how good they are after they've shafted him. It's bitter, nasty, insulting shit, not clever football strategy; why would winding City's crowd up, help Spurs ?

He's jealous of City & jealous of Mancini because in Harry's world, it's not about Spurs or City, it's about telling everybody how good Harry is & how he can do better than everyone else. Well if if you gave Harry a billion quid to build a team, he'd have 85 fucking players on the bench, lose 3-0 at Old Trafford without a fight & still finish the season tonguing Fergusons ringpiece.

Cunt.

I think it's awesome how Roberto turned it around and focused on 'arry's wife. He is getting near to fully grasping a little thing called english humor.

twitchy knows it's gonna be very hard for them tomorrow, and is trying to get inside the heads of our players. while he's trying to do that, maybe someone is trying to get inside his wife?!?
my bet is, of course, on Mario ;)
