Not sure you can say Mario stamped on somebody with a deliberate motion, when it appears he didn't make contact. Easier to say he was deliberately trying to miss it.
Good point about leaving a trailing leg to get caught so as to win a foul.It isn't the silliest suggestion, although it is a part of the modern game that irritates me immensely.
