Presumably his pay is docked in order to pay the fines. Cant imagine they would get away with not paying him and fining him on top but that would be really sweet if true. We could actually make money out of him that way. Haha Tevez, see yer contract out in obscurity you twat and pay us £24m. a year for the privilege.

I think there's an agreement that you can only fine them what they are paid/going to be paid for the period of the offence.

Yeah I guessed as much but just say for instance that there is a club rule written into the contract that says if you miss training without good reason you get fined a weeks wages. Its inconceivable that under normal circumstances a player would miss training more than once in a week but if they train four times a week and Tevez misses each session...BANG one week goes by and 4 weeks wages.

Can you imagine his face when he opens what he thinks is his payslip and its an invoice for £8,000,000 PLUS VAT!!!

It's a nice thought mate, I can live with that. It's just good that people realise he isn't being paid to sit on his arse.

I do not why we continue to delude ourselves on this ..are we paying him... topic - it has already been categorically clarified,,,,,

Within an early posted I commented.....

"Paul McCarthy - Joorabcunt's media mouthpiece' was explicitly asked by Mike W on SSN this morning if we are still paying his wages - and the answer was a clear yes

When asking the follow-up question along the lines of how does that work then...... McCarthy answered that all issues of disciplinaries will be sorted out / addressed at the conclusion of any deal etc
"

There was no room for any ambiguity and this is entirely in line with all the professional legal and contract opinion I have asked.

We do not like - it is fucking shit - but it is life!! And we cannot affor to act in a way that leaves us vulnerable to being sued - which not paying wages would do

Hopefully future contracts we sign in the future will see us learn from this - we will not be the desperate party in the future

Guardian has said the dispute has cost him £9.3m so far, therefore we must be holding something back.

Correct, confirmed by Khaldoon Al Mubarak himself

Khaldoon Al Mubarak defiant over wantaway Carlos Tevez
Kevin Affleck

ABU DHABI // Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the chairman of Manchester City, has warned Carlos Tevez and AC Milan that the club will not contemplate sanctioning the sale of the restless Argentine striker unless the Italian club meet their valuation and adopt a more professional approach to transfer negotiations.

Al Mubarak confirmed the Premier League leaders are aware Adriano Galliani, the AC Milan vice president, has held talks with Tevez and Kia Joorabchian, his adviser, over a proposed move to the San Siro, despite the Italian club failing to meet City's valuation of the 27 year old, believed to be upwards of €30 million (Dh143m).

"As things stand AC Milan isn't an option for Carlos Tevez," Al Mubarak told The National.

"Mr Galliani and his advisers have developed a misplaced sense of confidence from their premature discussions with Carlos and his advisers. If they want to be a consideration in this transfer window they would do better to stop congratulating one another and begin to look at how they would meet our terms."

City, owned by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, have already rejected a proposal from Milan to take Tevez on a half-season loan with a transfer dependent on performance targets. They will not approve a loan without a guaranteed end-of-season sale.

Al Mubarak confirmed talks with Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan have also taken place. Armed with a considerable budget from the Qatar Investment Authority, PSG held constructive talks with Manchester City and were prepared to match Tevez's wages but announced yesterday they had pulled out of the running after Tevez was quoted in Argentina as saying, "I see myself only in the red and black shirt, I am hoping for Milan."

"Paris St German and Inter Milan approached discussions with us in good faith and it is always a positive experience to deal with people with such a professional approach," Al Mubarak said.

Should the club's valuation of the player not be met, Al Mubarak said City have no intention of softening their hard-line stance.

Tevez, who is contracted to City until the summer of 2014, has been absent without leave since the second week of November.

"Carlos remains a player with contractual obligations to Manchester City for the next two and a half seasons," Al Mubarak said. "Unless we receive an offer that we deem appropriate, the terms of his contract will be enforced."

Tevez remains on unapproved leave in Argentina and has not played since the club imposed a four-week fine for a first charge of misconduct, subsequently reduced to two weeks when the Professional Footballers' Association refused to sanction the full punishment, for refusing to warm up in a Champions League against Bayern Munich.

Tevez briefly returned to training on October 13, only to return to his homeland without permission for which he has now been found guilty of gross misconduct and fined six weeks' wages. His appeal to the club's board was dismissed and he has until January 30 to make a final appeal to the Premier League.

The player's wages have also been stopped. This suspension of wages coupled with fines levied against Tevez to date are believed to total around £3.3m. When combined with the forfeiture in September of £6m worth of loyalty payments following his transfer request earlier in the year, Tevez is facing recent losses in excess of £9m.

Tevez's unauthorised break has seen him playing golf and spending time at the beach. Photographs circulated also showed him dining with Joorabchian and Galliani after a trip to Brazil.

Tevez, who was signed on a five-year deal in July 2009, has been attempting to engineer a move away from City for more than a year. In a display of apparent brinkmanship, Milan claimed they pulled out of negotiations with City earlier this month but have confirmed they are back in the race to sign Tevez.

"Tevez wants Milan? We also want Tevez," Galliani said on the club's official website this week. "We shall see, there are still seven days left until the end of the transfer window."

Discussions between Joorabchian and PSG officials did not elicit an agreement with club, who yesterday ended their interest in the player.

"We stopped the negotiations," Leonardo, the French club's sporting director, told L'Equipe. "There was an opportunity, we have studied it, we made a good offer but failed to agree a deal. We will not pay excessively so we stop. It's over."

Inter have already had a €25m bid rejected by City but the two parties could yet reach a deal as Inter are owed a substantial balancing payment on Mario Balotelli's 2010 transfer to City.

"I hope we can finish this quickly," said Roberto Mancini, the Manchester City manager, on Friday. "He has talked now with PSG, Inter and Milan and I hope for him that a deal can be concluded quickly.

Brinksmanship, you can't play brinksmanship for a mere 25 mil (in comparative terms), Tevez and ratboy are well out of their depths, and I reckon it will continue for ratboy even after ths event; Carlos is an after thought.

In all honesty, can you imagine the Sheikh, and Khaldoon, his 'Main Man', backing down to these people. Roberto will have to wait and I bet he is more than happy to oblige.

We back you Roberto, do you back us?

Patrick / Beefy - Having not been able log in so much recently I must have missed that post - and fuck me it is good to hear Khaldoon speak so strongly.

I have said quite a few times on this thread that I would 'love to be wrong' about us still paying Carlos - really love it!!!!

The conern that lingers with me is that the statement from that twat McCarthy was absolutely unambiguous and I have not seen an official statement from CITY refuting it - surely they would have?

Also the part of that post...........

"Tevez remains on unapproved leave in Argentina and has not played since the club imposed a four-week fine for a first charge of misconduct, subsequently reduced to two weeks when the Professional Footballers' Association refused to sanction the full punishment, for refusing to warm up in a Champions League against Bayern Munich.

Is not part of the article that details a statement from Khaldoon - i.e. not in quotes - so this does not read as Khaldoon's words - more the reporters view of the situation???

Mind you - surely such a piece would have been proofed by MCFC (Vicky)??? - Also, whilst I have been out of circulation for a bit - surely this would have been headline news on SSN - Gordon Taylor being wheeled out etc - was it? I may have missed it.

Just really really hope this is the true position - just have a remaining creeping doubt that this could be a reporter's opinion - would love to be absolutely wrtong

City then released a statement confirming the latest stages of a dispute that leaves Tevez with the stigma of having been docked more money in fines than any other footballer in history.

"The club can confirm that Carlos Tevez was found guilty by a disciplinary hearing on 21 December of gross misconduct for serious breaches of contract and was fined six weeks' wages. Carlos elected to appeal the finding, which was dismissed by an appeal panel made up of club directors. He has until 30 January to make a final appeal to the Premier League."

A piece I read says they are still paying him, but have fined him. So perhaps his wages are going through the books, then being held subject to the results of disciplinary proceedures which will no doubt be ongoing until he returns.

I feel almost giddy with mirth about this statement from Khaldoon. For so long I've hoped we wouldn't cave in to these reptiles & this has just put that straight once & for all. The Sheikh & Khaldoon are miffed. Richie Benaud may have said "What a superb bit of quality slapping down...that was."

I despise AC Mialn's double dealing reptiles almost as much as Harry & Ferguson. Arrogant, self important, disrespectful. wankers. One day soon, we will be scraping them from our shoes.
