That's my take on it too. We can't just stop paying him, otherwise the contract is effectively cancelled. So we pay him but then fine him for not turning up. The tax man is still getting paid, so there's still a contract but not a penny is leaving the country. If he wins the appeal, he would be entitled to all the wages docked.

Brilliant news.

Disagree, the fine is for one specific instance of gross misconduct. Since the day that occurred he has not been in to work so we are not paying him, same as any company. We could end his contract if we wished but are perfectly entitled to decline to do so. He has no redress for the wages as there he is not meeting his side of the contract.

Glad you clarified that Jon, I kept hearing and reading that we were paying his wages whilst Tevez was topping up his tan and workingon his golf handicap.
I also heard another rumour (5Live or Talkshite) that made me both chuckle (because it couldn't be true) and wince (just in case it was), that; should City win the League, we would have to double his wages as a bonus to him.

In any other industry, his continued behaviour would make him almost unemployable.
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT

One of the most fantastic things I've read, pure quality from Khaldoon. Never has our club been in safer hands.

I'd like to see him be unpaid for two and a half years, then sued for the % of his transfer value he didn't play for and leave him penniless.

I have been trying to work out what has really happened here - given that the posts re Khaldoon's comments seems quite clear yet for what I have heard in the past the fact that a club cannot impose a sanction without PFA involvement is equally clear - yet a bit of googling found nothing on the PFA commenting on this case since late Oct/early Nov.

Perhaps the answer is that CITY are 'technically paying' him but then not making the payment due to imposing internal disciplinary procedures which mean that he is being fined the equivalent of his wages and it is only when these precedures come towards their end that final settlement is determined. That would also fit in with what the snake McCarthy said - although being a spin-merchant it came across as if ............a) yes CITY are paying and b) disciplinary matters will be resolved at the end - but with an emphasis that the ball is in the Tevez court

If it carries on for much longer then it will be in CITY's interest surely to let it carry on for the remainder of his contract - we will save nearly as much in wasges as we get in fees and the reputational benefit would be immense

BobK - you mention a CITY statement - "The club can confirm that Carlos Tevez was found guilty by a disciplinary hearing on 21 December of gross misconduct for serious breaches of contract and was fined six weeks' wages. Carlos elected to appeal the finding, which was dismissed by an appeal panel made up of club directors. He has until 30 January to make a final appeal to the Premier League."

Have you got a link as I cannot find it on the website

I think that reality behind this is, as lots of us have suggested, that the KiaSnake has done a deal with ACM and convinced both them and Tevez that CITY can be royally screwed if a bit of brinkmanship is undertaken - hence the way that Tevez has 'fucked off PSG' - I must admit to thinking that they would get away with it. I hope to god that the CITY stance suggested is spot-on - you can imagine that they would have had the best legal advice involved - and that KiaCunt has overplayed his hand.

That Khaldoon is a class act.

Mate, he's not being paid, technically or any other wise. You don't need PFA approval to stop someones wage when they are in breach of contract.

Nada, nothing, fuck all, he's not being paid. Khaldoon hasn't suggested, he's imposed it.

Not a chance of him ever playing in a City shirt again. Mancini doesn't want him and the owners seem to of washed their hands of him so i just can't see it happening.

Glad we have took action against him, no player is bigger than the club. He thought he was smart fucking off to Argentina and he thought he then could just pick what ever club he liked to go and play for, but oh Carlos how you were wrong....hahaha

I pulled it from the end of the Guardian article. I assume City did a briefing to the press to coordinate with Khaldoon comments

I really hope he stays with us for the rest of his contract now, and when I say 'stays' I mean stays where he is now but under contract to us. It's such a shame, he could have been an absolute legend for this club, still, moving on ...

I still wouldn't mind him getting on as a sub in the 89th min of a match we are 3-0 up in, just so the fans can give him the send off he deserves ;)

struggling to understand why inter would pull out now, just one day after khaldoon (LEGEND!!) bitch slapped ACM and made it clear that city are happy to deal with inter and PSG? inter are back on track for the scudetto and could seriously damage their arch rivals by snatching herman from under their noses. odd.

If AC Milan don't cough up the transfer fee, I can see us going after Tevez for it sooner or later. This could be the end of his career if he's not careful.
