For me if he had set his stall out to blood in the domestic cups, and targeted the League and Champs he could have nailed the media agenda. He has my nod to taget teh 2nd leg and rest players at Porto and here.

Israeli club MS Ashdod have confirmed that Manchester City have lodged a bid for their midfield starlet Nir Biton.

Biton has spent the last week at City's Carrington training HQ and is understood to have made a positive impression.

Now Ashdod have confirmed that City have made a bid to take him initially on-loan with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.

Club owner Jacky Ben Zaken told the Jewish Chronicle: "They want to take him on loan immediately and want an option to buy him in the future."

20-year-old Biton is highly-rated in his homeland and is already a full Israel international with two caps to his name.

No. I don't think he would be

He may have dual nationality, though.

so yr saying if the Israeli defense forces stop him late at night out for a late smoke/walk with his dog or something he'd just flash his Belgian ID card, and play it cool like?

cheers

This would presumably be during some random invasion of Abu Dhabi ?

Haha.

Wasn't there a statement about this kind of thing when Ben Haim was still on the books?

I thought that was a forcefield and that's why nobody could get the ball off him.

It's not going to work out for the lad, the two footed tackle he made about 2:30 in would see him banned for the rest of the season and probably most of next season as well.
Hoping our new rollercoaster gives us the thrill of our lives.

I'm wondering about the work permit. I've read a quote from his agent which suggests City are confident he'll get one but we've been shit on whenever we tried in recent years.

Perhaps that was punishment for conning them into believing that Jo was an 'exceptional talent' though ?

From the MUEN;

Manchester City have played down reports of an imminent bid to sign Israel midfielder Nir Biton. The 20-year-old FC Ashdod player impressed during a recent trial period with the Premier League leaders and there have been suggestions a loan deal is being put together. However, it is understood that City would prefer to take another look at a player who would initially be part of their Elite Development Squad and getting the necessary work permit would not be easy.
