Fucking hell, I'd forgotten about Bianchi. What a piece of talent scouting from Sven that was. Apparently he really begged him to sign too.

"Hello Ronaldo this is Sven, I really really want you at City, it would be a dream for me to manage a player like you "

"Hello Sven, I'll be glad to sign but my name is Rolando "

"Errm........has the money gone through yet..?"

and at least Pizzaro's highlight video has someone like the Gypsy Kings instead of a lil wayne remix at full volume. That counts for something right?

Seriously. Highlights? Who compiled that as a highlight package, or was it Pizarro's 'average bits'? ? There were more square balls in that than a gay orgy by Picasso. He was like de Jong with a Mariachi stalker, but without the tackles.

Suppose it is only Youtube, but normally these things tend to err on really emphasising moments of true class when promoting a player. Hopefully his twisty turny linkage play will win me round.

Definitely prefer the tune to anything by Lil Wayne though.

Haha, yes it is the worst set of highlights you could ever compile. It's like a tribute to Ray Wilkins.

Actually Sven has come on the record afterwards, admitting that Bianchi was a poor purchase and that he had not scouted him (if any) well enough.
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Yes but I remember Bianchi saying how Sven was so convincing that he really wanted him at the club; that's why he signed.

Nope.... nothing at all alike.... its just the r*d shirt.
Quality game though..... I remember playing it for hours and hours as a kid.... especially the indoor mode!

Top quality game although you're talking about the wrong one you muppet!!!! Pizarro does remind me of the midget player especially when he kicks the ball!!!

I love the way kids played games in ties in the 70's lol. Nowadays they're more likely accompanied by a line and some ho ;-)

It was a clear Rookie error on my part.... I'm obviously NOWHERE near as old as you ;-) and have no recollection of THAT Striker.

I pictured the same one as you. I had it on the SNES as a kid.

Coming back to the other point, there's only ever been one poor-man's Subbuteo, and it was this....

I particularly liked the bit at 00:30 when he needlessly put his own centre-half under pressure.

his ability to pass either backwards or sideways is matched only by De Jong

the "free kick" where he goes up to lamp it at goal then meekly passes it sideways made me roar with laughter
The vid has surely got to be a pisstake ?
