But I suspect it would have been in court a lot quicker.

I would have thought that if someone at the top of the ladder was charged with such an offence that they would be taken out of the roll, or at least not allowed to interact with the workforce who were under him/her until the trial?

'Gardening leave' if it's serious enough - suspended on full pay pending the outcome of an investigation/inquiry.

That's what I'm thinking. Seems morality is out the window where football is concerned.

That plus footballers expect to be treated differently from the rest of the population. When Tony Adams was locked up for drunken driving his teamates insisted he was paid whilst he was inside. In any other job he would be suspended, forbidden to enter his workplace and banned from contacting his coleagues until the situation was resolved.

While I think Terry is one of the most vile, disgusting creatures inhabiting the Premier League, if I was him I'd be delighted at the FA stripping him of the captaincy. He can argue that he has been found guilty before trial and that any case against him will be prejudiced by this decision. His lawyers should be all over this angle in my opinion. The easiest thing would have been for the FA to tell Capello that Terry was "unavailable" for selection and his form and injuries were preventing him from being picked.

Let's not forget that Terry doesn't play for England for free. By holding the captaincy he also receives higher image rights and therefore more wonga.

And while we are on about it - what is Cappello on about? If the FA board want strip Terry of the captaincy, or ban him from playing for England if they feel like it, they are within their rights to do it - you might not like it but that's how it is.

All he has to say is something along the lines of:- "It's a shame JT can't be captain, but we have many leaders in the squad and I have every confidence in whoever gets the armband."

I think that is a fantastic angle, that could breed so many conspiracy theories.

I can honestly see Joe getting it. I seriously hope not though. Keep him as far away from that circus for as long as possible. Last thing he needs is all that surrounding him.

Give it to Gerrard or Parker (seems hes gone from a fringe player to favourite for captain) or anyone else for that matter. Just leave our players out of it. Nothing but trouble.

Terry shouldn't be playing for England full stop. Not because of anything/anyone he has said/done this season or any other season. But because he has had his chance, he has had more than his chance and always came up short. Same as wio, lampard, Gerrard, Ashley cole, shrek, crouch. If the England team we're a prem team they would be in the fucking third division

All proven competition after competition that they aren't good enough as a team and the whole thing needs scrapping along with capello and a new fresh squad set up.
