where has our spark gone

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

where has our spark gone

Postby stevefromdonny » Sun Feb 12, 2012 8:25 pm

now im not knocking city because we won today, but sometimes today we was lacking pace, infact when milner got the ball and went forward, there was no city players anywhere near him and he had to stop and wait, the swagger has gone from our play at the momment and we need to get it back

One of the main problems today was that we didn't get enough players in the box when we had the ball in advanced areas. Playing aguero on his own up front meant that the midfielders had to get forward in support but there were many occasions where the ball was crossed into the box with only 1 city player and 4 villa defenders

Firstly we need the right set up.

Hart
MR-VK-JL-GC
BARRY
YAYA
SILVA-NASRI
AGUERO
DZEKO

It needs to be staggered like that aswell. Aguero needs to be shooting and dzeko needs to be in the box. Silva needs to be in between yaya and the strikers with nasri both dictating play.

After that we need to attack. At the start of the season we weren't keeping clean sheets. Mancini wasn't happy about that and has stunted the team. When players score and are doing well THEY NEED TO KEEP FUCKING PLAYING ie dzeko scores and is benched for the next game. Richards is our ONLY wide player and changes the way we play so drastically that he might just be our most dangerous player yet he is rotated. The general fucking with the team needs to stop especially in the league.

Then we will be all bright and sparky again.

I think it's more psychological, the pressure & expectation is beginning to rub off on the players - many might have won leagues, but when you add the decisions against us & the relentless nature of the rags, this type of pressure is totally different - someone mentioned on the match thread about the palatable relief in the players when we scored today I think that is a major factor we can't ignore.

I thought it was a very rag type celerbration today from the guys and I fooking loved it. Great win. Yaya, Kolo and Balo back, three huge players for us. I feel they will make a difference to our team. Its ours too loose IMO.

By all accounts Kolo has had an excellent ACON. Wonder how happy he will be with a place on the bench

completely ours to lose...and we can't lose faith if we somehow drop some points and trickle into second for a week.

Mancini has some hard work ahead of him, and he got a little lucky today, but if you are looking at it from his viewpoint we could have scored at least 2 in the first half and been cruising it if players had a little more focus or a little more luck.

He's got to do better than today in the run out or we will be relying on Tevez to win us the league.

I think Bob totally out footballed amateurs like us today personally. He picked a side which totally, utterly, dominated the game.Quality players fucked up in easy situations or we would have won by 4. That's the players, not Bob.

I loved the celebration too btw.

That spark we had at the beginning of the seasom was so special. We destroyred teams with speed, running and accuracy of passing. Teams who came to play us were ripped apart and went away bewildered. Even with only 10 men, the ragsshould not have been clinically disected in the way they were. Perhaps the greatest compliment to City this season was actually paid by Taggart in the demolition derby. As his team were left looking like a bunch of OAPs waiting for bus, as we skipped and danced through them, Taggart sat on his arse. He did the same in the CL final when Barca gave them a lesson. |He understood that sitting on his arse and doing nothing was about as much as he could do. He isn't an idiot and fully understood that he couldn't stop an inferno with a water pistol

But it couldn't last...and to think it it could would have been unrealistic. Football strategists were there analysing looking for gaps, checking where they could build walls to stop us....and at some point, someone, somewhere would work us out and others have learned from them. To our credit, they never stopped us, they only slowed us.

What we saw was the 1st phase of City, a glimpse of the future. We were given a window of where we are going and where we want to be. The challenge now is to rise beyond the present, to overcome the obstacles they place in front of to aim at becoming an iconic World class team.

I will reiterate again...what you see bow is still only the beginning of a long journey. If you are enjoying this, it ain't not nuffink to what we will get in the future.

who couldn't love the celebration....i felt like i was in the group hug with them. it was an exhilarating relief.

How many times can we talk about quality players fucking up until it's the managers fault for not picking the "quality" that won't fuck up?

i see your point, but i think if Mancini played our strongest team we don't win it 1-0 we win it 3-0 or 4-0 and don't cause me to lose a year off my life the last 10 mins of the match.

If his intent was to signal that he wants to win the Europa league...then i guess fair dos as you say, but i couldn't give a fuck about that personally.

Strongest team for every league match, no ifs, ands or buts.

cheers

Game plan was spot on yesterday. Tried to play lot of balls behind their slow central defenders. We completely dominated the game for 80 mins and created tons of chances. Finishing was off though and I thought that game was crying out for Dzeko.

Last 10 mins though was complete disaster. We just let them into the game and create lot of chances. Mancini got to be disappointed with that.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

My thought was that he wants to get the WAFFA tie 'over' in the first leg if possible, leaving us to play a very strong side against Blackburn after next week's game.
