He hasant just come good!! He's been playing well for yonks.

Bob on. He has been better than Vincent in the main this season.

You can't argue the toss with me douggie

I've been championing him for months!!

It's clear from the reaction of his team mates that he's one of the core figures at the club. People talk about dumping him & bringing in all kinds of untried characters. If David Luiz hadn't signed for Chelsea, a lot of people on here would have happily swapped him for Lescott; that's how ridiculous it can get.

The PL isn't like a continental league where people can get by with a bit of nice technique, it's a muggers alley where you have to face a different challenge every week. Not many CB's can do the job that Lescott & Vinny do, & when we do eventually find a replacement for Lescott, the bloke is going to have to be a bit special; not just a nice passer of the ball but hard as fucking nails, week in week out.

and you know what...i love that about every 3rd match he slays someone in what could be an obv penalty/card, etc...and looks around like "what's that?"....you need someone who'll punch an opposing player in the dick when it's required, and he has that streak in him that i love. Micah has a bit of the same. Love them both for it. Basset Hound is not one to fuck about with, even if you are a superpimp running casinos in central america trying not to get beheaded, etc

cheers

However, I still can't get over how uncomfortable he is with a football at his feet. I don't understand how anyone can reach this stage in their career, regardless of what position they play, and look so awkward on the ball.

That said, he's solid for us.

One of my big criticisms of Ned was his poor ability on the ball, most awkward passer of the ball I've ever seen. Lescott is only slightly better

I just don't get this criticism at all. No he can't play many devastating long range through balls but compared to most CB's, his ball retention is fucking excellent. I doubt there's ever much difference in a game between Lescott & Vinny when it comes to losing posession. Vinny was a midfield player. For a big daft CB to be close to him in passing stats is superb.

Neither of them are brilliant at developing play but it only seems to be an issue with Lescott. I don't get it. Tell Silva & Co to take the ball off them & play, like Barca do; problem solved.

I still make the comparison with Vidic.By many he has been considered the best centre back in the premier league but does he make great passes or travel well with the ball? Does he hell.He defends strongly and very well and when he has the ball gives it to somebody else close by.Nothing clever, nothing fancy and that's exactly how it should be and that's what Lescott does.

People don't actually have a problem with Lescott's distribution. They have a problem with him looking awkward on the ball.

He makes Kompany playing the ball straight to the opposition (as in the Villa game) look like Beckenbauer.

It's a bit silly.

If people have a problem with this, perhaps they should put it all in perspective by looking at Chris Samba, for example.

Key point, he LOOKS awkward but his distribution is a lot better than people would have you believe. Better than Vinnies for instance

For some reason, the last few matches Vinnie's played in he's suddenly got this Dunnie Style of booting the ball over the top up to no one. I don't know where that's come from but something needs to be done about it asap.

I hope we get someone in the summer to battle for this position.

Lescott has played well the last few games but he has also lost us games...it is also a fact that he has won us games as well...so it probably balances out in the end.

I just want a better footballer in that position.....at least to compete with him.

Which ones? We lose that few these days that you should be able to narrow it down quite precisely.

Yes.
Own goal against Liverpool cost us and also a daft penalty.. there's 2 games he costs us.

Hang him.

One goal dont get me carried away, didn't he "save" Silva's freekick earlyer on? Looked like it was going straight in.
Cant remember a game where i dont get frustrated by his totally lack of creativity where to pass the ball,
pointless passing him beacuse he will send it right back, he's allso to slow sorting out he's feet.
Was suprised he went for goal and not a backpass at Villa!
Better than Kompany this season?? Please stop.. Would like to see Kolo back and a replacement in the summer.
