Michael Johnson - 24 Today

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Michael Johnson - 24 Today

Postby King Kev » Fri Feb 24, 2012 10:31 am

It's hard to believe he is still so young, it seems like a long long time ago when he was running our midfield.

He should be approaching the prime of his career now, what a terrible waste of talent.

Did he ever "run our midfield"

He's the biggest myth I've ever had seen in a blue shirt.

its not a myth is it. he was clearly very very talented and was only going to get better.

he may not of been the next colin bell etc but he would of got a few england caps somewhere down the line, everyone was saying it. his injuries looked to have ruined it for him but if the rumours are true about him being a piss head then some of it may have been brought on himself. shame.

The Colin Bell stuff was always bollocks but he was a more talented player than Tom Cleverley or Michael Carrick & would have played nicely for England alongside people like Jack Wilshere.

I wish the las all the best for his birthday & hope he can get his career back on track somewhere.

He is a pisshead I saw him in town a few years back just after schalke away, I asked him when he'd be playing and he said in a few months as he proceeded to drink everything in sight

His career or Johnson himself?

What's been the deal with him at Leicester? Injured or failing to catch?

Bumped into him on the lash a few weeks back, nice lad, pretty funny; we had quite a few jars together. Not willing to condemn or blame him for having a beer or twelve, ad I've only met him out once. He has talent, he had fitness. Who knows what now.

You say it's not a myth then proceed to quote the myth.

Overhyped by so many it's gotten old before he did.

Is he still contracted to us? I can't remember what the score is with him with all his injuries/loans/comebacks/back in training stuff!

I don't ever remember him running the midfield, 50 year old hamman was the most important player back then with johnson popping up with the odd goal.

The most over rated player to ever play for city in my lifetime.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're entitled to your opinion, mate.

While he was not Colin Bell, I do think he was a lot better than you and many others claim. He fitted in extremely well alongside Elano and made Ireland (and also barton) look a lot better than he does now. Football is often not about how good a particular player is but how combinations of players work. I still think Johnson as he was was a player who could have played with today's players and not looked out of place. Somewhat like a James Milner in that he wasn't afraid to put his share of work in. A damn shame for him and for City that he has never had the chance to prove himself for an extended period.

I'd like to bump into him and wish him many happy returns and all the best for the rest of his career. But I'd only buy him an orange juice.

I'd also pick him before I'd pick tevez.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.

I would pick my nan before tevez!

Johno was a talent, mystery abdominal problem that the doctors couldnt find. He seemed to go off the rails a little and disrespect his body and his responsibilities.

I think a poditive fit michael johnson would have been a huge player for us sadly it will never be.

I just cant get my head around that thinking. You would rather play somebody who would weaken the side and risk losing a game than somebody who would strengthen the side and maybe win a game? Taking it to the ultimate you would rather not win the league than play Tevez!

I understand the feelings about him but I wouldnt go that far.

He use to go missing in VERY GAME for atleast 45 mins. But he scored a couple of pearlers.

Amazing how the memory fades and only remembers the good points.

Even back at his previous best he isnt going to oust Yaya, Barry, Milner, DeJong etc.

Time to go to Oldham.
