Summer spending

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

We are going to have to reduce our wage bill a little bit this summer. I expect some young players with potential to come in but perhaps only one "name" player.

Isn't it nice having a manager you can trust for once.

Definitely. And for once, I'd be happy to see that.

I think this is the first time since our last promotion season, where we know with 100% certainty that our manager won't get the bullet in the summer.

Shifting on RSC, Tevez, Bridge, Adebayor - that will be a cool £25m a year off the wage bill.

With an increase in revenue from Champions League, winning the title (possibly), a Europa League run, Selling the naming rights and increased commercial activity such as bringing in EA, and £25m a year off the wage bill, we would be very quickly narrowing the FFP gap.

Indeed. You need a striker as replacement for RSC/tevez/Adebuggeralleffort, though it would be nice (not to mention cheaper) if Guidetti were able to fill that fourth striker role.

On a side topic I have started to see the first tentative signs of an MCFC merchandising presence in this country. Lovely.

YAya, because of his huge body to stroll around, wont last [at top peak] as a Giggs. He is the only irreplaceable of the team.
As already said several times, I fully expect Bob will go all out to get Javi Martinez, the only living back to Yaya.

I agree that he should (I've been harking on about Martínez for a couple of years), but I'm not so sure that he will. We'll see.

A big, strapping box-to-box midfielder at Bilbao. Starred for Spain at last year's U21 Euros.

Watch out for him when Athletic take on the Munes.

Not not at all, I don't watch anywhere near as much football as I used to so have no idea on players coming through. Will have a watch of that game.

Was gonna post earlier that I would prefer us to sign a couple of players who are not yet the complete article and play them in slowly.

Edit to say, not as incomplete as Savic maybe

Bob will definitely go for someone to back up & sometimes play alongside Yaya. He has said several times we don't have a replacement. We have been watching Martinez for a while but he has also been linked with everyone else. It depends on how keen we have been to set it up, as we would have to get the player really into our project if we are to ward off Barca & Co.

In terms of selling Ade, would we be happy selling him to Spurs given out reluctance to sell to rivals?

Ade is worth probably 20M now, again.

He's proven he's a goal scorer and a difference maker to a top team in the top league in the world. Someone could come in for him. He just wasn't a fit for our system.

The downside for us is he might be worth 20M ONLY to Spurs...no other English team can/will see the value in him at that level, which means our only bets will be Milan, Juve, Inter imho. And dealing with them is so fuclin unpredictable.

I predict we will sell him for 15M to Spurs this summer. Which is fine with me.

cheers

I predict you're about .6 million out Chinners. Sorry 'bout the itk crap as I know it winds people up ( myself included ) but a friend of mine who is close to a couple of coaches at Spurs said £7.6. He also said that if we win the league Ade is due a fairly substantial bonus and that he would also be due a loyalty bonus.

Please don't shoot the messenger, I'm just relaying what I heard. I am taking it with a massive pinch of salt myself.

Got to remember Ade is in the last year of his contract this summer, so in reality unless he proves to be in extreme demand, we will be lucky to get in excess of £10m.

Personally i'd like to keep him, maybe he has learned from his attitude problems and wants to be a part of the history City want to create

I hope Ade has done enough to attract interest from someone outside England.
Imo selling him to someone like Juventus/PSG/Anzhi for anything over £10million would be brilliant business. From Spurs I'd want at least £20m

with the exception of carl, whom I believe is secretly gay for joleon, i cannot believe any city fan would seriously want a "new CB to partner vinne." FFS, lescott has been fucking immense this season!!

I reckon overall, by the end of the transfer window we'll have trimmed our wage bill by about £6-700k per week.

Yeah but when VK was out we had to make do with an unproven youngster, need more depth here especially of Kolo goes to Anhzi
