Dzeko

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Ted, i've watched Llorente since he played with Scotland, in Glasgow, at that 3-2. Week in, week out and i can really say there isn't much difference betweem our big Ed and him. He has the same first touch, that Edin has, but the difference between them is that, Bielsa uses him only as a striker. He isn't "allowed" to come closer that 60 m from his own goal. If Dzeko will be used in this way and not to be forced to go back for his ball, his ratings will be much better.

The same thing happend with Adeba too, they aren''t the type of players to come almost to the center of the field to get the ball. They are just strikers, old school strikers.

The difference is that Llorente receives the ball holds off defenders & plays his team mates in. Dzeko could but doesn't bother very often. He challenged for a header today which he wasn't bothering to go for on Thursday. He didn't get anywhere near the ball but his challenge prevented the defender from bringing the ball out & for a moment didn't know where the ball was; it could easily have dropped for a City player in a dangerous area. Over a match, that extra bit of effort is often the difference between winning & losing.

Actually, seeing as this is a Manchester City forum, you do.

I dont think so. While registering, nowhere was said that you have to be blinded supporter of any club.

You support Dzeko not City so any views you have on this topic are not objective because you defend him to the hilt, as do all the other Dzeko fanboys, regardless of how shit he plays.

Im no fanboy of any given player, since my father or brother doesnt play (I would be fanboy of them).
Dzeko has my support, but not to extent of not being objective when it comes to his performances. When you are addressing to me, you should have at least read what I wrote about him, not everything was good. I do know that much about his abilities that I can freely say when he would come good if he had an opportunity and any decent service.

This topic is about Dzeko's performances in a City shirt, which on the whole have been poor.

He was not exactly the player of the year, but you are exagarating to that extent that I do not even want to comment this.

I'm sick of reading the drivel that posters like you and Palus post on this forum. If you don't support City then do one. No player is bigger than the club

First of all please dont compare me with Palus, and second of all you dont have to read what I write.
Again (since you're accusing me without any facts) all I said on this forum / topic was pretty much either objecitve or personal opinion, which Im entitled to have.

And I do support City, but does not have to be relevant when people talk about football, even about any given club, even MCFC.
It is not enough to do your best; you must know what to do, and THEN do your best.

Roberto Mancini was the man who brought us our first trophy in 35 years. He was the man that brought us our first league title in 44 years. He brought us one of the greatest moments of our lives. He masterminded a 6-1 win at Old Trafford, and a Wembley win over United. He challenged Ferguson, he argued with him on the touchline, he brought success, and he punched the air in delight with the rest of us at the madness of it all. He had style, panache and a winning smile. All those memories he gave us will never be forgotten, in a wonderful period in this club’s long history.
And I swear, we’ll never see anything like it again.

Dzeko is great as he's got us loads of new fans, granted they may only be temporary ones and they might buy moody merchandise instead of giving their cash to club .... Good work nevertheless Edin

I'd much rather have taken Silva or Sergio off before Sami yesterday, he was far more effective than those 2.

It might have been a good idea to double sub Kolorov/Johnson and Dzeko on with 20 to go to go at them in a different way. Dzeko has a knack of getting on the end of balls in the box, the best thing about him. He reminds me more and more of horseface everytime I see him. Leave him out of the build up play and get balls into the box for him to knock in.

United never won trophies playing like this though which means Dzeko should probably be used as a plan B.

For those of you that think putting effort in is about running your arse off, that is only a part of the picture. A player should run his arse off but only when the circumstances dictate he does. Drifting and drawing defenders, creating space for others, making dummy runs, taking up positions to give other players options, strategically moving to make defenders unsure whether to retain a position or cover his movements.

John, I agree. And that's the problem with Edin. Losing possession or a bad first touch is only part of the problem. It's the lack of effort when he hasn't got the ball that is really annoying. Again, not running about dickov style but moving into positions that create space for others or give them an option for an out ball or just generally annoying defenders.

There is a difference here between those who watch him on TV and those who go to the games. If I watch an away game on TV I get a different perspective than I get at the home matches. On TV you generally only see the area around the ball or what the director wants to show you. In the ground you get a much wider picture and you'll often be drawn to off the ball movement, or lack of it as the case may be.

How can you tell he has been lazy in away matches by making a judgement of what you see on the telly. You just said that you can't tell what a player does from the pictures. He might be running round like a cunt .How would you know? Are you making assuptions. And the people who are dissing the ones who hero worship Edin don't you think it's nothing more than some people feel towards say Uwe or Niall Quin or Goater. The people who have Edin as their hero are doing nothing different to these people

Said it and I'll say it again, his basic control, first touch and passing are not good/ consistent enough. Yes sometimes they are outstanding but often the ball bounces off him and he fails to control a simple pass. Or against Sporting he passed the ball straight to the linesman when there wasn't a City player in sight.
