The Invincibles

Remember them ? What a side they were. Henry & Co; incredible football.

Imagine being 4 points behind them at this stage if they had the fixtures rags have got ? You'd expect them to win every single game apart from v us, which could go either way, and finish with a record points total.

Well, no actually you wouldn't. You would think it's possible of course, but unlikely; some team will fight out a draw or get a lucky pen etc etc, that's football, it even happens to Barca & Real Madrid. Same with Shankley/Paisley's Liverpool or even Ferguson's treble winning rags team; you could imagine it's not impossible they could do it, but you would be surprised if they won every single game without even a draw.

People are fully expecting this vastly inferior rag shower to win every fucking game except v us. NOBODY will be surprised if they win every game. Is that because they have been playing such great football ? Two arsefuckings v Bilbao in the past two weeks.

No, it's because the whole country is used to bending over for the cunts & they expect it to happen again, no matter how they play, as do most of their opponents. Everyone just thinks ; that's what happens.

It makes me fucking sick. If they play fantastic football & fight like tigers, I can accept them winning every week & hold my hands up; it shows us something we need to aspire to. When they regularly trot out a mediocre performance & get the same result for stepping up pressure for the occasional five fucking minutes during a game, it's just bullshit. Their performances on the whole do not deserve the results they have been getting either in effort or in quality.

Even some of their own fans know it. Some of them are just laughing about it.

Would Everton at home be thought of as a banker for anyone else ? Ever ?

Sadly, the way things are I dont see a game they will drop points in bar when they come to play us.

Blackburn might eke out a draw against them on a very good day but thats it. As for Everton, their effort level given against Utd compared to their commitment against us is poles apart.

That said, in our last 6 away games - none of which came against teams in the top 8 - we've only scored 2 goals, and lost 3 of them 1-0. There is the crux of the problem we have created for ourselves; we have been largely shite away from our own patch since early November, and nothings been done to alter it in nearly 5 months.

We will know what sort of chance we have by next sunday. If we go out and beat Chelsea and win at Stoke that would put us back to the top and upset the media script - slip up in either of these games and the media Man U love-in will intensify.

This week is a real gut check for City, this squad and the manager - we will see if they have the stomach for it.

This.

They have won 5-0 five times now I think. Despite what some would have you believe, they arent shite either. I remember reading on here some thinking our 6-1 win was bigger for us than winning the FA Cup Final, because it would shatter them. It was folly at the time to think so, and looks even more daft as the seasons gone on.

Far better than last seasons side anyway. Still believe they are holding it together by a thread before the seam bursts. I do expect them to use the berbatov money to get in a reasonable midfielder to replace scholes/giggs and then they will be better still next season

I agree with you.I don't think they are as shit as some make out.As many teams that supposedly roll over for them I think plenty raise their game.

Thing is its not black or white is it?

They're clearly not shit, but they also get gifted a shit load from refs, opposition and managers.

Give us dodgy pens, easy 1st goal and surrendering teams and we'd be unbeatable too.

Well it is black and white. They get more penalties and spurious decisions in dangerous areas because they attack more than most teams. You spend more time in thei opposition box you will get more penalties, more chances, and defenders will make mistakes.

The thing that bacon does well is to understand his own weaknesses, such as their defence - and neutralise that weakness by going on the ffensive, something our own manager could learn from

Besides that, A number of our own penalties this season have been dubious to say the least - starting with thursdays

Truth is that there is only really the Grannyshagger in their squad who would be a deffo starter for us.

Going back at the Invincibles and looking at us, we must understand that at the moment we don't have a player like Henry. If you ask me, he was the major element that brought them the title, because if you remember they didn't had a team as good as us. Paddy was on his last great season with Arse, Parlour was almost retired, Edu was like Pizzaro, Lauren again was a surprise and Ljunberg had huge games with the big boys, but was mediocre with the other teams. And of course, Pires and Wiltord who were superb.

I wanted to compare the two teams, to see that while Henry was the major player for them, playing as a center striker and second striker, our two guys up front have a total different stature than him. One is a liability, almost every game doesn't look interested, plays at 60 % of his value and after a good goal, pass or whatever, it comes a fuck up, the other has confidence problems, in some games he too doesn't look interested and so on. Well imagine if we had a player like Drogba, in his good days and younger (I won't say Cavani, because we haven't seen him yet in the Premiership), or Henry, in the same situation, a player that gives it all, scores and works for the team, imagine how would we look.

The major fact is this, i really think that we are better than that Arsenal team, except were it mathers the most. In front of the goal, were Balo/Dzeko suppose to deliver. That position can be fatal to our title chances, just because the both of them aren't 100 % concentrated in the game.

I think Evra would get a game too and if we are being honest, Nani would feature as well given our failings in this area especially away from home.

I dont give a toss about having a great team on paper, I want one that mans up away from home and digs out results when they are not at their best. Currently when we are on a bad day we lose 1-0; Utd win those type of games 1-0 and therein lies the reason we are now behind them instead of still out in front.

Various replies on this thread have mentioned our away form, how Utd aren't shite, etc etc.

My op refers to the fact that a team who just got their pants pulled down twice in the past two weeks, is fully expeced to get maximum points from all of its games bar v us, when much better Utd teams of the past wouldn't neccessarly be expected to do the same.

Im not arsed about them getting dicked in Europe they didnt give two fucks about the Europa league.

Im arsed that unless something major happens and we manage to turn around our shoddy away form the rags are taking home the league when it should have been wrapped up a while back.

With respect, that isn't what I'm talking about.

I'm talking purely about the mindset of fans, media, players alike that this Utd team is so good, nobody can even take a point off it.

Did you see the full strength team they put out at bilbao.

That wasnt a manager saying he didnt give a fuck - he wanted to win that but came up very short.

When all is said and done, they have ground out results through their most difficult spell of the season, and have their tails up on the run to the finish line. I will not be amazed if they win all their remaining games. Sadly, whilt that should set up a title decider at the end of april, i fear we will have dropped a number of points before then.

The only caveat to this is how mancini chooses to deal with the situation. If we set out to win, we could easily also win all our remaining games, but i doubt we will cut loose.

Whatever we do, for Utd to win all of their other games shopuld be something they aspire to, not something they are expected to do. The fact that most of the country expects none of those teams to give them a game is wrong. Terribly wrong.
