Unfortunate really that people can't view them as a good side, might help people get over this idea that we've a divine right to win this thing. The only real mistake United have made this season is not giving any respect to Europe.

This United team have gained more points at this stage of the season and scored more goals since one of Busby's sides in the early 60's and until last week were still second. Kinda tells me how well we've done this season but also how well they've done to hang onto our coattails. Quick one people,just to remind you the rags ARE playing well in the league.

Take your blue tinted specs off for a minute,our away form has fucked us over like it or not.

Didn't they go unbeaten for something like 27 games last season. This is the same team but you swap berbatov for shrek and add young on the left. If anything they have stepped up 2 or 3 gears this season as their away form was shocking last season despite being unbeaten for ages.

But I have no doubt that if teams played against them the way they did against us they would not be above us.

Factor in the abysmal reffing we have had away from home this season and the 7 points (absolutely non negotiable 7 points minimum) it has took from us and we should have the league wrapped up anyway. Unfortunately I think this one has handed them the league and has inspired our current away form. Therefore no matter how well they are playing it is still bullshit.

Two facts: 1, we have been the team to beat since we put 6 past rags & have struggled to cope with our newfound status away from home, so our performance level has dropped.

2: the rags have had an absolutely incredible run of favourable events running for them whilst simultaneously running against us, over a decent period of time.

And it's continuing. If the rags had to go to the Emirates now, it would be a completely different proposition to when their game was played, same with Chelsea.

Have alook through the rags' fixtures list as they happened & in how many of their games they have been truly convincing.

THAT is exactly what I'm talking about.

We have slipped in standard away from home but we've still got a lot of points over the season, due to being awesome at home. The rags, on many occasions have also slipped in standard away from home & won. At Fulham, they deserved it & played better than we did.

On many other occasions, it's been largely down to the oppo fucking up or a favourable ref, rather than the rags doing anything that clever. They have been just as slow, uninspired & shite on their bad days as we have, but the oppo sees the great Manu & lets them of the hook whilst stomping on us.

It's like when thy stab that geezer in 'Haloween' then rather than cut his head off, they leave him lying there, go & make a brew, & when they get back, he's stood there with an axe.

honestly, this is the old adage of "you have to beat the champ" being played out at full fucking volume and it's hurting my ears.

you see it in sports. it's not as uncommon as we think. It happens in every sporting league in the States, but not to the degree i think i've seen it in the Premier League.

someone mentioned to me yesterday -- a gentleman in his late 60s who was a youth coach for Wednesday in the late 60s and through the early 80s who's also coaching my son in some soccer clinics -- "maybe it was too much to think City could win it in the first real year of getting Mancini's entire squad built. It's pretty optimistic to be honest." and i kinda thought about that for a few minutes afterwards, and as a neutral he doesn't see City coming 2nd this year like we do. He thinks City are going to smash it for years to come and be a real world footballing power, so what's the haste?

Totally agree with this, every year we have got better, and not just a bit better, infinitely better. If it isn't to be this year it will be next or the year after at the VERY worst. City are here to stay, and we are going to win everything in sight, Rome wasn't built in a day and I think we are making great progress and the indicators for the future are fantastic.

I haven't read the whole thread, just the opening post.

I agree they don't play great football, most Rags I know are just as bemused as I am that they are having such a good league season given the standard of their football, but there's one point I want to make about the Rags that gives them a huge advantage over the rest and that is their discipline.

They are brilliantly drilled, they all know their jobs and follow them to the letter, always keeping their shape and remaining focussed from the first minute to the last. I know it sounds simple but this is imo what they have over the rest, including us.

I do believe they will drop points between now and the end, so we have to ensure we're ready to pounce when these slips happen, it's still all to play for. We play twice before they play again, it's imperative that we win these games to keep the pressure on them.

Imagine being 4 points behind them at this stage if they had the fixtures rags have got ? You'd expect them to win every single game apart from v us, which could go either way, and finish with a record points total.

Well, no actually you wouldn't. You would think it's possible of course, but unlikely; some team will fight out a draw or get a lucky pen etc etc, that's football, it even happens to Barca & Real Madrid. Same with Shankley/Paisley's Liverpool or even Ferguson's treble winning rags team; you could imagine it's not impossible they could do it, but you would be surprised if they won every single game without even a draw.

People are fully expecting this vastly inferior rag shower to win every fucking game except v us. NOBODY will be surprised if they win every game. Is that because they have been playing such great football ? Two arsefuckings v Bilbao in the past two weeks.

No, it's because the whole country is used to bending over for the cunts & they expect it to happen again, no matter how they play, as do most of their opponents. Everyone just thinks ; that's what happens.

It makes me fucking sick. If they play fantastic football & fight like tigers, I can accept them winning every week & hold my hands up; it shows us something we need to aspire to. When they regularly trot out a mediocre performance & get the same result for stepping up pressure for the occasional five fucking minutes during a game, it's just bullshit. Their performances on the whole do not deserve the results they have been getting either in effort or in quality.

One could argue that they had to play Liverpool when Suarez was back from his ban
They had Vidic missing most of the season and Ferdinand missing for a fair chunk. We lose Kompany and/or Lescott for a couple of weeks and its like the coming of the 2nd apocolypse on here
I know things like Chelsea sacking could have fallen fortunately for them, playing Arsenal before they (seemingly) have hit a vein of form, but I don't know what freak things have happened which makes you feel this is all so unbalanced.

The only freak thing that has happened recently, is that we have played like cunts in our last 5 or 6 away games. If we hadn't we would have been out of sight and not even having this discussion
