Biggest club in the Conference

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Biggest club in the Conference

Postby Piccsnumberoneblue » Wed Mar 21, 2012 7:10 am

I was just having a look at the tables after last night's game and looking at Plymouth's plight.
I got to wondering if they would be the biggest club to have ever found themselves in the Conference.
Luton have won major honours but have never been well supported and then slightly differently but Wimbledon came from Non League and won the FA Cup and Wigan have managed several years in the top flight averaging considerably more fans than all the other teams mentioned.
So who is the biggest club in the Conference ever?
City and sniffing knickers.
Come on Blues.

That is also the thought of most County fans, but that would be preferable to going bust.

Having lived in Plymouth for a short while and going regularly to Home Park, the Plymouth situation always perplexed me. It is the only largish City in the area and with local rivals being Exeter, Torquay and to some extent Yeovil, the City dominates the whole of Devon and Cornwall. Plymouth is no different to any other place, it is full of footie mad people but has never been able to pull a crowd in.

Sadly, even in the 70s, the sports shops were full of Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, rags, Everton and to a lesser extent City gear. "Aaaaargoile" went almost unnoticed, even on their own patch.
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT

I'm going for Halifax Town but I'm biased. Currently in the play off places of the Conference North
