Lovely stat in the programme, 10 years ago today, we drew 2-2 at Stockport County as we went 7 games without a win. I'm a big fan of trying to keep things in perspective and I think that shows perfectly how far we've come in the last decade. Those horrible bastards down the road are acting like we'll be bolloxed if we don't win it this year. If we do great! If not, we'll all be back next year!

Love you all!

For the record, Richard Jobson and Jamie Pollock scored the goals.

10 years ago? U sure?

Keegan was manager and we walked the league, we did lose to Stockport though as we had a terrible record against them at the time.

God - I remember going to the home fixture pre-Christmas which was a 2-2 draw. The Kuqi monster scored for them and I think we had Dunnie playing right wing back. I seem to remember we were losing and the Goat saved our bacon. Back in the days of Dixon Etuhu and Lucien Mettomo. Before we really kicked on. Can't imagine we were 7 games without a win tho'. I remember them battering us at home when we went up under Royle as well - 1-2, when BAiley scored the penno and teased Weaver. Early signs of Weaver over-confidence in that game too. I can't remember what happened in the away fixture that year 1999-2000 - was it a draw? I do remember them battering us 3-1 or 4-1 the year we went down to 3rd but I think we did the same to them at home in one of the first games for Joe Royle's super-signings of the ilk of Lee Briscoe, Peter Beardsley and Ian Bishop. In 1997-98, didn't we go 3-0 down in the first half? We've certainly seen both sides of this football coin, eh?

...and so have the County fans Steve.
From battering us down there, we sit as the only club possible to take the rags crown off the, while they are having a struggle to beat the Dog and Duck B team in the "Did Anyone Bring a Match Ball" League.

My experience of arrogant County fans in those not so far off days means that the only soft spot I could ever have for them, would be a patch of quicksand on Southport Beach.

I'd rather be viewing the football coin from our side than theirs.

The fact that seems almost beyond belief is that a few years earlier, we actually had to battle for the right to be able to play Stockport County, as their local derby was Bury, a whole division above, whilst ours was Macclesfield.

We're just trying to sign a player from Crewe now, to play in our reserve team. In those days Crewe were looking down on us from the division above, we would have struggled to afford him, & he probably would have turned us down in favour of Leicester, Coventry or Derby or some other similar Premier League team.

My old flatmate was a massive County fan and I used to go to Edgeley Park a lot and I still do if we aren't playing on a Saturday so i've got a lot of time for them. Pisses me off how anti-City they are, but I suppose for a club that is in the financial dire straits they are, it sort of makes sense that they get pissed off about kids growing up and choosing to support City/United rather than their local team.

Just to go back to the original point though, it does show how far we've come and the other thing it makes me realise is that we are in a fantastic situation and even if we don't do it this year, it's clearly only a matter of time!

We did lose to Stockport ten years ago, the original title was correct.

Without getting into something so silly, its quite clear the thread title was wrong, it said 10 years ago and then talked about how we hadnt won for 7 games and drew with county 2-2, there was nothing about losing to them or anything like that, it was clearly wrong Ted.
