Hypothetically speaking if we were to sell one of Dzeko or Balotelli this summer who would you prefer to see go?

I'm leaning more and more towards Balo. He's got bags of potential, but his attitude is just too poor. I could accept it if he has a bad day at the office every now and then and acts like a petulant little prick. But now it's the other way around. The games where he shows up to play football without stupid antics are the exceptions.

No, I do have an own set of eyes. Balo has been a burden more often than an asset this season. Sure, he has the ability and quality to come up with game winning pieces of brilliance, but it doesn't happen often enough. Instead he either acts a) disinterested b)sulky and petulant or c) like he's looking to get sent off.

I know he's still a kid and that Mancini is working on his attitude, but I had hoped to see more progress this season.

Neither Balotelli nor Dzeko have been as consistently good as you would hope for in a title winning striker. When either of them are at their best, they actually lead the team & look better than Aguero, but Aguero is always in there trying & fighting, even on a bad day & the other two are divas who can just collapse completely to shit for no reason, on any day.

Both have clearly got the ability to be absolutely amongst the best in the world but if you take the contribution of both over two seasons, and put it together, it wouldn't add up to Alan Shearer at his peak for one season. I'm not talking about scoring goals here, I'm talking about the whole package.

We are trying to become something special & we need someone special to lead our attack, someone Aguero can play next to who is the leader up front. However good those two are, neither of them are that player, they are both people who flit in & out of games & cannot be relied upon.

They have to change or one of them has to go. We can't have two divas in the strike force. Right now, it would be Dzeko who goes imo but by the end of the season, it could just as easily be Balotelli as you never know how good or bad these guys will be from one game to the next. We can keep one as a secret weapon & cash in on the other.

I started to believe in Balo, but if I'm honest, he doesn't do the business enough to justify the mither that comes with him.

The raw material is all there though. If it clicks, he is potentially up there with Ronaldo etc.

Yes. Wise words.
I wouldn't want us to give up on him yet, but I'd like him to step up to the plate.

There are a lot of similarities. At the same stage in Ronaldo's career, he got 12 goals in 47 games for the rags & was rated by their fans as an unstable, ponce. Now he scores in practically every game for Real madrid.

Balotelli is already way ahead of Ronaldo as a striker for that age. He has a similar ability to strike the ball too but so far we only see flashes of it. The only question is his mentality & how much work he will put in. If he works hard enough, he'll get there, if he doesn't work hard & remains a prima donna, he'll end up in France.

I don't think you can base assumptions on goals scored. What I don't see is the ability that you are seeing compared to Tranny. Yes, I can see that Mario has qualities and the same self-opinion but in the same league as Tranny, let's hope eh.

The Ronaldo of today has loads more of just about everything compared to the Balo of today. What Ted has made quite clear is that he is comparing them at similar stages of their careers.
I agree that Balo has all the potential to reach the very top but to do that, he needs the right mentality.

I cannot understand the hype over Ballotelli, he's a decent striker nothing more.

I'm still waiting for him to do something truely 'world class', until that happens I cannot change my mind.

he has great potential, but he doesn't have the potential to be as good as ronaldo. pace cannot be learned. also, he'll never be as good with the ball at his feet as ronaldo.

Sorry to say it but that's spot on.In every aspect trannie was and is better than Mario.I would just like Mario to achieve some of that potential.

Cheers for the responses. Interesting how it's turned into a debate on Balo's potential compared to Tranny at his age.

There's definitely something there with Balo but how long do we put up with his nonsense in hope that we will see it?

As for Tranny, I recall watching him as a young player and thinking this lad's just a stroppy little show pony that can do some nice step overs but falls on his arse if someone sneezes near him. It almost seemed like overnight he stepped up to become almost the best around, second only to the dwarf of course.

I'd hate to lose Balo only to see him make that step up that so many in the game ( Ancelotti, Casiraghi, Vialli and of course Mancini to name but a few ) believe he is capable of at another club.

I also have that horrible nagging feeling when I think of Leeds letting Cantona go for a song because they weren't prepared to tolerate the bullshit that went with the talent.

Never done anything world class ?

Balotelli 18-19 years old.

I am not the biggest fan of our Mario, but even Christine had a mentality that makes you laugh. Let me tell you a little story

In 2001, Sporting were managed by Boloni, a romanian manager that won them their last league title. Boloni saw Ronaldo and called an agent called Becali to come and see him and another young player that look really hot (Quaresma). Becali flew to Lisbon, saw Christine and that tried to sign him. He set up a meeting after a training in the club and started talking with tranny. He said he wanted to sign him and he can open doors for him in the future. Ronaldo agreed, but wanted a 250.000 pound porsche from the agent because he was very much in love with the club's cleaning lady and wanted to impress her.

That was on the mind of a 16 year old player. Not so different from our Mario.
