The Scottish Winelickers Club.

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The Scottish Winelickers Club.

Postby Ted Hughes » Thu Apr 12, 2012 11:26 am

Let's assume we take yesterday's form to Norwich.

Then imo, Norwich are fucked. Not because they are shit but because they are nowhere near good enough to stop a team who can attack like that. (Against the rags & Spurs they played open football. If they play for a draw v us, we know something is not right).

So then they have Aston Villa at OT and Scottish Winelickers Club, card carrying member, Alex McCleish who once broke club rules by taking a point of Sir Alex. Will they turn up ?

Then next week, we have Wolves (again a team we SHOULD turn over). Whilst they have Everton, and Scottish Winelickers Club Executive Gold card carrying, honourable member David Moyes, who uaually licks the wine from Sir Alex's balls after the game.

Will they turn up ?

If either do, then I feel the game is afoot but I can't see either even putting up a fight.

i think scouse 2 fans will demand a good performance, as they are poised to finish above scouse 1. don't see gollum rolling over (although he'll be gutted not to).

Apart from against us, the best chance we have of Utd perhaps failing to win is Sunderland Away on the last day if they can be bothered. Villa and Swansea are knock-overs for them, Everton will be focused on the FA Cup and Moyes is one of Fergie's Felchers.

This assumes that we win all our games, and so far we have shown nothing at all that indicates we will win at Norwich or at Newcastle. The away form is the thing, and until thats been addressed nothing has changed.

if they beat them in the fa cup they will have no interest in the league and will want to rest there players, i cant see them putting n a performance at the swamp regardless.
derby day the scores were level,

A new question for A Level Maths exams should be the following;

Compare and Contrast the effort levels of Everton FC when playing Manchester City, to when they play Manchester United. Please indciate the difference and decline in effort level as a percentage and to the nearest 10.

Exactly. They will either be in the Final and thus focused on that, with nowt to play for, or desolate having lost to Liverpool and again have bugger all to play for.

You often draw attention to that point. The reason is United's defence is weaker than ours, so therefore teams are more inclined to attack as Wigan did last night. Also their attack isn't as good as ours so they can take more chances. When playing us if they come full blown attack they'll get hammered so why would they? Look at the teams who've taken points off us, Everton, Swansea, West Brom, Sunderland etc. They all sat back and went for a draw and it appears to work against us. When we start winning those games opposition sides will stop playing like that because it won't work.

I have no problem with teams attacking Utd, in fact I'm all for it. I have problems with teams who have obviously spent ages watching videos, going over every detail, making a special effort to stop us, then just play randomly v them & leave Rooney unmarked for a free header at corner kicks etc. It's basically helping them to win the league & it's not fair.

If they treat the rags game as one they expect to lose so just have a lark, but treat ours as a cup final, we are playing in two different competitions.

If Everton turn up at OT, have a plan to stifle every Utd attack, run their balls off, kick them off the fucking park, & still lose, I won't have a problem with it.

What amazes me is just how their end of season fixtures have panned out. They've got the folloowing games left:

Villa - McLeish
Everton - Moyes
Us
Swansea - Rodgers
Sunderland - O'Neill

And, in April:

Wigan
QPR
Blackburn

Not a bad run-in if you can get it.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

I think Sunderland will drop them and we could very well win the title on the very last day of the season. How sweet would that be? For them to lose the title by defeat or draw to Sunderland? They tonked us twice and I cant see united beating them.

Everton is the best bet for getting a point. Villa have been shite all season and Sunderland will probably be on holiday when they play them.

Villa are truly dire, so apart from the fact they could yet be in the shit even if they tried to play the rags they would get beat, so forget it.
Everton I wouldn't yet count out, if they lose the Cup game. The opportunity to better scouce 1 could kick in. But lets' face it it is a real long shot.

Swansea play well and could cause real problems, but unless the rags have properly got the jitters then forget it they will get ground down and shat on - more than likely a penalty just to make sure they don't get any ideas.

That leaves us and MoN.

I'm inclined to say lets just concentrate on our job, play to enjoy the football and show ourselves we are the best, smash the rags to fuclin bits and then see where it all stands for the last day.

If it is in the balance by that last day they could very easily lose the plot on Wearside. It would be a nightmare situation for them if it gets to the last game i rekon and even the gum chewing cock would be shitting it.

My best guess is they will have to bring him back in an ambulance.

We better start to watch out for Sunderland players suddenly getting carded all over the shop for no reason over the next few games, there's nothing like good preparation to even up your chances.

Dunno, but now I've had the idea even of the possibility i might just go and do some homework on it and find out. I'd rather act like a paranoid tit than allow the possibility to go unchallenged. Plus after the last two games decisions you really have to question things.

Sunderland may be on the beach, but MON has t had chance to put his stamp on his squad yet. Hopefully some of those players will be playing for their future, which might encourage a bit of effort.

The key is that we keep the pressure on. Assuming we both win the two games before the derby and we win that, the last game will probably mean that if we win and they don't the league is ours.

Ours should be a home banker, but if we don't get an early goal, we'll start to panic more and more. Similarly for them - they should win, but it means nothing. They should have won at west ham years ago and couldn't hit a barn door. Blackburn hit the post about four times against us when we got promoted under Royle. Pressure does funny things to people and we need to make sure we apply it, starting with this weekend. Beat Norwich and make them have to beat Villa. They should, but there's a difference between should and have to.
