Whenever I watch Savic, and to a lesser extent Toure, I feel like theres a clanger coming. Thats enough for me to want to see the back of them.

Whilst Nedum was limited, I cant remember him dropping too many clangers. Ive never understaood the fascination managers have with playing him a right back. I thought the best run he had was when he was paired with Dunne at center back in the second half of I think the Sven season.

I actually, contrary to everyone else, think that Savic has a future in football. He can actually control the football and pick out a good pass. Imo he was just thrown into the deep end and was off to a bad start, which caused him to panic in standard situations. I remember the WBA game at home last season, where Kolo played right centre back and Boateng played right fullback. They passed the ball betweeen them like a hot potatoe, totally without skill or awearness. It was somewhere in between pure tragic and comic. Personally, I think that Savic can develop into a better footballer than the both of them.

Fair points and I'm glad someone has brought a bit more perspective into this. I think some peeps would only be happy if Bob actually beheaded him publicly in the centre circle.. possibly as the icing on the cake after having spurred the team onto a 7-0 trouncing of WBA on Wed... just to keep the fans happy of course.

On a wider note this debate made me think that in the general course of a season it is more than likely that one or two of the CBs will be out. Most teams have to cope with this during an average season. So as the cover for the CBs is clearly not going to be as good as the first choice, there is always the danger the team are more prone. This is worth making note of when looking to set up 'the perfect' squad.
Those two positions more than any are the most difficult to fill with total confidence. And the fact that it is so is Mancini's fault too.

His old dear, egged on by that slimey cunt Joorabchian, sold out to the sun with a story that resulted in our CEO walking away. Ned should have been fucked off the minute that story went public.

Cook was in the wrong, I'd have been livid if it was my mother whose illness was being mocked, but Ned's mother should not have gone to the papers and wouldn't have done so without Ned's (and Joorabchian's) consent.

End of City career, there and then. He should never have played for us again after that.

Yes, he's streets ahead of Savic, although Ned is average at best, but he allowed himself to be influenced by that snake Joorabchian and is quite rightly plying his trade elsewhere now.

I wouldnt have retained him, he looked totally out of place in this team in the Arsenel cup game, clearly not good enough.

But still better than Savic which I think is the point people including myself are making.

I thought he had the potential to be a very good center back 4 years ago, but thats long gone thanks to prolonged absences from the team due to injury and playing at right back with his awful distribution.

I agree that he's a better centre half than Savic, even now with his potential not realised.

On footballing abilities alone Ned is well ahead. However, it's all moot as imo he breached the code and called time on his city career.

The pertinent point here is that Bobby should have realised in Jan that with no Vinny or Kolo, he was exposed, not good enough and that a decent centre half was needed.

Maybe he asked the board to buy a center half and they said no? They said no to stumping up the cash for De Rossi by all accounts.

More likely I think Mancini just hoped he could get through January with Vince and Lescott both available and then Kolo would be back for cover. In hinsight the best thing to do would have been to play Richards at CB in Vinnys absence but he went for Savic and tried him and it didnt really work.

At the start of the season I would probably have thought thats Vinny, Lescott, Kolo and Savic would have been enough to see us through the season with few problems at CB.

You may well be right about funds but I think the De Rossi thing was driven by his agent to get Roma to put a decent deal on the table. I'm not sure that we were ever serious players at the sort of money Roma wanted or that de Rossi was ever going to leave Roma.

My over riding feeling is that I can't see khaldoun turning Bobby down if the need for a centre half was put to him in the right context. My hunch is that Bobby wrongly thought Savic was good enough.

Every manager can be forgiven for signing a spastic..they have all done it and maybe Mancini learnt his lesson too late for him to realize what a pudding Savic is at this level.

I dont understand Mancini s methods yet as they are baffling more times than not....I hope and pray he learns from them a lot quicker than he has done this season.

I think he'll continue to do baffling shit but the team/squad will get stronger at the same time, so eventually, he'll do baffling shit & we'll win loads of trophies but still lose the odd game due to baffling shit.

Re Savic: I still have the video of his game v Wolves in the League Cup & as I said at the time, he's fucking diabolical. I also predicted at the time that he would lose us any competition he played regularly in & get arse fucked by any decent striker who played against him, so it's got fuck all to do with his games v Liverpool etc apart from they proved what I'd said much earlier.

He also has the rare distinction of being totally owned by Jay Bothroyd & outpaced on the ground by Andy Carrol.

I've got the videos of Savic & the argument has been done before I'm not one for calling people shite out of random hatred. It was his fault & he's shite & the only people in the whole world who don't know it are a very small percentage of City fans.

Everyone makes mistakes & I'm sure he could learn to defend stuff like that better over time but so could David Brightwell. He would then be a shite defender who is a bit better at defending set pieces.

Kolo is like Dave fucking Watson compred to Savic.

Question for you all

Was is or was it not reasonable to discuss the managers position following the run of form up to and including the Arsenal game?

Yes it was fair to discuss, any issues that affect our club and our team's performance should be discussed. People will have different reactions and opinions, but if this was not the case we would have no forum.
