The herman we saw today (and to a lesser extent against WB) was deffo new and improved. I underestimated him as a team player.

What's interesting to me (watching it on motd -at work today) was that listening to talkshite on the way home from work - tevez cheating bastard (penalty dive), golf shot - he's taking the piss etc. not that i disagree(golf shot not the penalty) but de jong has been critical of him in the papers ( if you read all the papers not just the sun) yet he was the first to mimic the celebration. Either de jong is lying( actually did a golf swing before he hugged tevez), the sun is lying or tevez doesn't like golf. None of it sits pretty with me but i love city and if we win the title and carlos helps us who cares. Well i do, but not enough to worry. I'd rather do it without him but if it we win and he helps, so be it. i'll feel dirty for a moment and then i'll love it and him. i've loved city all my life and at 35 have witnessed nothing but dross overall ( exciting drross but dross nevertheless). mancini said the other night that we have had our best finish for fifty years. I thought wait a minute - what about our glory days? Then I realised that our glory days were so long ago they've got dusty. It feels like we've lost it this year because we lead for so long. but it's not over and we might still win. if we don't, would you have taken second at the start of the season? maybe, maybe not. Either way there is still a way to go but as a rallying call to my fellow blues COME ON WE CAN DO IT!!!!!

Beefy you bastard! ;) always said wouldn't post when i'm pissed - which is why i've only made 30 posts in 7 years but can't help being happy tonight. I know it's going to be tough but we've threatened this performance in loads of games this season and have fallen at the last. Don't like to say it but it's still advantage rags. A result against them, win every game and we'll do it. I still believe!!!

Realistically I don't think there's any player in the world that could replace Tevez. That's why it would be foolish to sell him if he decides wants to stay. We are an infinitely better side with him in the team and he can lift a whole team. I mean look at the first goal yesterday, started with an error due to Tevez closing the player down and his third goal came from a backpass due to his closing down.

Has Nigel really criticised him? ( I dont read any papers) I would be surprised if he had as I think they are fairly good mates and all I have ever heard him say was there was a problem with the club.Nige is one who seems to have receieved him back very easily and very well and maybe will be miffed that it took so long to get him back.

De jong did interview saw last night in which he said players had no problem with tevez and a couple of fans on 606 both said the golf swing celebration was aimed at norwich fans.

Somewhere there must be somebody, perhaps a young player, who can at least start to emulate him. We need to lookout for it.

When you look closely at his contribution stats compared to some others (as I've just mentioned in the Nige thread) it does start to make Mctavish's description of our usual strikers as 'traffic cones' appear less harsh.

Imo it has proved that we need such a player (something we didn't know until we actually saw him play with Aguero) & therefore has made the job of our scouts a bit easier; they know what they are looking for.

Perhaps. But Tevez is now 28 and I can't see any side shelling out 30 million on a 28 year old with that agent. And then there's his wages. The amount of goals he gets from simply closing down and putting defenders under pressure is fantastic. But he's also a fantastic finisher, passer dribbler and good in the air for a small man. He's a very, very unique player. One of a kind really and I've not seen anyone who I think can replace him.

Good in the air for a small man. made me laugh that. Would you have said that before he scored yesterday with his head? Is there another example of him heading the ball? I bet there is but I cant think of it but surely to say he is good in the air for a small man was unnecessary in your argument?

He's scored a few headers for us I recall. Wasn't really the focal point of my argument but he's decent in the air considering his size. Yesterday he was first to the ball against two taller defenders.

Im sure this Tevez debate is far from over and will rumble on all summer.
I would have to say that my sneaky feeling would be that he will move on to Ac Milan in the summer, always felt that deal would develop eventually.

Well word is he wants to stay now and him and Mancini are finally seeing eye to eye. With Aguero at the club wanting him to stay too it's looking more likely he will stay especially with Dzeko, Mario and Ade most likely to all leave. We can't really be left with just Aguero and our returning youngsters surely?

That's why Im starting to think he might stay - his partnership with Aguero is his ticket to automatic International appearances, and I think he's either realised it himself, or had it suggested to him.
