With the fa cup final being between chelski and scouse1 this gives another europa league place to a league position. This comes at a perfect time for everton to go for the jugular at the swamp

On another Europa note, we don't find out until after the season whether England has a Fair Play place, apparently:

I suspect the last thing golum will want is another load of games next season for a squad that can barely cope with the prem

nice idea though

I like this.

Moyes getting Scouse 2 into Europe would really improve his CV & his chances of getting out of that shithole. He may even be willing to go against Sir Knobnose's wishes for the chance of escaping Everotten at long last.

on current standings, Everton would then be the 2nd team in finishing 7th

They would even be in if they dropped to 8th behind red scouse since they are in due to the Milk Cup, right?

In that scenario, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham/Newcastle go into the Europa, and whoever finishes 4th from Tottenham and Newcastle goes into the CL Qualifiers.

Given Liverpool have secured 1 of the Europa Lge places by winning the CC, Its almost impossible for Everton to get a spot as any 2 of Chelsea, Newcastle and Tottenham will take up the other 2 spots. Chelsea will either finish 5th or 6th and above Everton, or also get the Eurpoa spot as the FA Cup winner or r-up. Newcastle or Tottenham would get then get other Europa spots.

If Chelsea finish 4th, again Newcastle and Tottenham will get the final spots as they are both miles above Everton. Liverpool couldnt claim the spot as FA Cup r-up as theyve already qualified via the CC.

Everton meanwhile are 10 points adrift, out of all the Cups and currently playing for the square route of fucl all.

Unless a miracle along the lines of Tino Asprilla pitching up at Darlington occurs, Everton have no chance.

That's what I thought. Cheers.

As per my understanding, we get 3 Europa spots. Two go to the winners of each cup and one to 5th in the league. If the winners of each cup qualify for Europe by other means, places left over go first to the FAC runner-up and THEN to the league.

Does this all still hold true?

Spot on.

With Newcastle, Spurs and Chelsea battling for 1 solitary CL spot, this leave 2 of them to fall into the Europa with Liverpool. Everton have a very slim mathematical chance of finishing 6th, but it isnt happening and they are playing dead rubbers from here until August.

okay, Doomy in 'he's retarded shocker.' can i blame WW? probably not.

lemme make sure i get this then....on current standings/cup results:

Newcastle qualifies as 5th, Chelsea either as 6th or cup winners, and then red scouse as cup winners, correct?

3 max spots plus maybe a FFP slot if we don't kick the fucl out of folks in the last month of the season? (or is that just European competition fair play? i never remember how that works)

cheers

Yes. The Europa League will be Liverpool (confirmed) Chelsea (confirmed as FAC winners or runners-up) plus Newcastle or Spurs if the other gets 4th. If Chelsea finish 4th, an extra place goes to the league, which means that both Spurs and Newcastle will be in the Europa alongside Liverpool.

I suppose this means that, barring a catastrophe of unprecedented proportions, Newcastle have already qualified for Europe. Well done Alan Pardew and Newcastle!

definitely the story of the season, outside of City's amazing peaks and valleys of course.

And to think Pardew fucked off his best striker and his "best" midfielder in the last 18 months to make it happen? Courage.

I always thought he could have done great things at West Ham if he hadn't been hamstrung by the illegal players situation with Masch and Tevez...that fucked him all up.

cheers

haha that was a hillarious moment, turned up in a helicopter to Teesside airport, left the engine running as once he'd stood on the turf in front of 20,000 empty seats thought fuck it & flew home lol! To think Darlo will be playing Blue Square North footie next season (if they don't go bust) in that massive stadium against the likes of Altrincham, Workington & Colwyn Bay
