The only ref who has nailed his colours to the mast as far as i am aware is jeff winter. How come he openly stated he was a boro fan (i think) and didnt ref them but the rest are a mystery?

Exactly as i said in another thread, it is inconceivable amongst the 20 or 30 elite refs, that not one of them grew up a united supporter. Yet none of them have admitted it, because from an early age as career referees they will have learned to keep that very quiet for the sake of their career.

The very absence of a declared united fan amongst that elite group is cause for concern enough that there are those who keep such an allegiance quiet

There have been too many decisions recently that have gone in Uniteds favour for it to be a coincidence.
In my view, money is changing hands and the table is being tilted. Probably betting syndicates or something.

If it can happen in Italy, it can happen here.

Penalties make the news, Evans should have been sent off at Wigan. Scholes knee high tackle is deemed a yellow card on Sunday, when it was a red. Ray Wilkins JUST IGNORES THE NASTY LITTLE BASTARDS TACKLES SOME SORT OF LAUGH ! Decisions being made by refs not strong enough to deal with the Ferguson wrath, RAG PLAYERS ARE TAKING THE PISS OUT OF REFS, All the officals looking at situations with an eye on ensuring they are at one of the Premier grounds week in week out, I think the old heads like Halsey must say to the youger refs, hey YOU cover your arse, fuck Wolves, Fulham, Wigan.QPR,They will not haunt you to the lower reaches of the Football league, but mess with MUFC and things will go tits up. Mike Dean, comes across to me as fair, but he has the years in the bank of knowing the tactics used, he sent Scholes of in the Semi with a look to Scholes of you know and I know that is another shit tackle and a red card! The refs like Oliver are intimidated to say otherwise is just not being honest. IT BECOMES BIASED WHEN YOU KNOW REFS DO THINGS A WHOLE LOT DIFFERENT AT THE REEBOK OR DW WHEN THEY FEEL IN CHARGE AND ABLE TO NOT UPSET AN ENGLAND PLAYER OR A RABID MANAGER, Halsey buying the dive is just a piss poor ref doing what he is expected to do at the SWAMP AGAIN. BIAS yes 100% as they are reffed in a way that they dictate.

The 1st very simple thing that should happen is that managers & players should be forbidden from arguing with the referee, linos OR the 4th official. If they do it once, they get a warning & told to go away, if they do it again they go to the stand. If they do it next time, they serve a suspension from the touchline or pitch, if they do it again, they are suspended from their job as manager or player for a long period.

After games, managers & players should be forbidden from discussing the referee or linos with the media. They can say it was/wasn't a pen, offside then that's it, over. If they start on the ref, they suffer the same penalties as above.

THEN, the ref should do his own interview to explain why he gave certain decisions, NOT to be grilled by ex players with agendas but to explain what he saw & why he gave what he gave. If he then interprets exactly the same incident differently in the next match, when Paul Scholes kneecaps someone rather than Balotelli, he hasn't got a leg to stand on & can be marked down by assessors.

If they did this, I recon you would find less advantage to teams like rags & Liverpool because it would be just as important to a refs career NOT to be seen to favour them. At the moment, if a ref gives Utd 70% of 50/50 decisions, he is more likely to succeed in the game.

I can fully see why players and managers contest refs when they're making such aweful 'mistakes'. I think its right to let it be known when a player can see the ref has made a big mistake. Refs already get too much protection imo. Managers cant even go against the ref after a game has finished!! I think refs and managers should be brought out at fulltime and interviewed infront of monitors showing them the actions that happened in the game, right there in front of them, and see what they have to say about the matter. Refs might think twice about their calls when they know they will have to comment on it after the game rather than going into hiding. It will also stop managers giving it the 'i ent seen it yet' bollox.

I think it would make interesting viewing

If you look at the way Webb was surrounded by players after every decision last night, clearly not.

It wont be long before our friends at OPTA start to count correct and incorrect decisions by referees along with miles they have clocked and critical decisioning etc. Then they will be under the microscope
