Big news if true.

He's a hard one to weigh up.

Undecided on whether he's a very good coach/manager who has overseen the development of some of the worlds best players or someone who landed on his feet with an abundance of talent and has it all to prove.

That's exactly what I think.

Is he genuinely a great manager? Or has he just happened to be put in charge of one of the best groups of players ever to come together?

Don't get me wrong, he's led the club to great success in recent years. But I can't work out whether it's because of Pep, or mostly because of the amazing players they have at their disposal.

It will be interesting to see what he does at another club. I'm glad we won't be the testing ground though!

In fairness to him, whoever/whatever he inherited, he made them into an awesome team that also became the benchmark of modern football.

I am curious to see how he manages a defense. If he went to Chelsea it would be interesting to see how he would line up the team. One center back like against Chelsea would get his team slaughtered in the Premier League.

I agree John. This Barcelona team of the past few years will go down as one of the greatest sides of all time. They are absolutely amazing to watch, and Pep definitely has played a role in that.

I just don't know if he could build or manage a successful team elsewhere.

I'm not criticising the guy. I just genuinely don't know if he's capable of that or not.

interesting...he is probably bored there and has been looking for a reason to leave, hence
the one year contracts that he's been signing.

i wonder if we will see him in London in August.

Without messi he would of won one or two copa del rays or whatever there called and nothing else. Barca for all there very good players are a one man team when it comes down to it.

Neither exactly. If he resigns which wouldn't surprise me because they will probably get rid of him if he didn't. The reason is he can't take them any further. He came through the academy and was taught the process of creating the football we see now as a player. He is the inside man, one of them etc etc. The trouble is as we have seen he is too much like them. He is the robot in charge of the robots, the nutter running the madhouse... He is not able to inspire a plan B or knowingly include in his team a wildcard that wont do what all the others do. Previous managers have always brought in outsiders to give barca another angle, an unknown and unpredictable spark. Eto, Ronnie etc. The best example of that was Henrik Larsson.
Pep got rid purposefully of all that type player... so that he could have what we see. 10 robots doing the same thing again and again and again. Messi is the only one really who doesn't quite fit, but he has been schooled there since he was 12 or 14 or something.

Barca would still win nearly every game, but they will keep hitting the limit of that type football with no alternative at all. I mean ffs on Wednesday they spent 45 mins repeating the same thing almost exactly. Never trying anything even slightly different, never tried to even beat the FB and come into the area round the back. Unberfuclinbelievable.

Straight after that game I said they will have to get rid of him as he will not be able to take any further. I think they know this at barca and I think he knows it too.
eg: No-one in the barca team is allowed to 'go missing'.. they all have to 'be available', ok sounds great, but Larsson's speciality was somehow to disappear from sight and then pop up just where he could do damage. Guardiola wont allow that cos he has his fuclin checklist of things players must do at all times.

They love him, he is one of them but he is toast.

imo I seriously doubt he is a good manager in the sense that we mean it. He could do a great job of training a team to emulate the passing game, if anyone was interested.

I cannot believe anyone can even question peps credentials. The pressure that job brings is bigger than anything in english football. He has his footballing methodology and principals which has given us some of the most fantastic football I have ever seen. Barca were VERY unlucky against chelsea, if that pen had gone in it would have ended up being 5 or 6. Anyone who gets him will get a world class coach who knows how to play and teach the beautiful game. If they invest time and money, they will come good.

There are many who want him to manage the national team but it will never happen because he is a catalonian through and through and the spanish fa dont like that.

Is that it? If not then I can't see me bothering really. Was always more interested in Maths and science. English was fucking boring. Of mice and men was about the only thing I liked. I once hid behind a curtain for a whole English lesson and found it fucking hilarious to jump out and scare the teacher about 2 minutes before the lesson was over and he went mental the puff. Sent me to academic remove. Proper cunt of a teacher he was.

So yeah.
