Wonder if this has anything to do with that tricky bollocks feller who is supposed to be coming in as our chief exec in the summer. Guardiola is saying he told his board in December, which was around the same time as the story emerged about the front runners for the chief execs job started to focus on the ex Barca fellers.

i've neither seen nor heard hide nor hair of these Barca fellers. I don't believe that's happening.

I think we mentioned on here that the Barca exec plus Tricky Burgerstain would inevitably lead to rumours of Guardiola coming here.

Now the rumours say that we have had second thoughts about the exec because of his dealings with that Spanish airline, but could it be that we already knew about Pep & thus wanted to sort out Mancini's new deal before bringing in the Spaniard & setting off the rumour mill ?

If we'd brought either of them in before signing up Mancini to an extension, every news outlet would be telling us Guardiola was nailed on for City right now & cocking up our title run in. Perhaps they are still coming and we are just employing a bit of tact ?

I doubt very much we would have known about Guardiola quiting, considering his own board didn't know and he quite possibly didn't know himself till they lost the title and got dumped out of CL. i know he hadn't signed a contract, but he has already publicly stated why that was when he signed for the one year.

I wouldn't read too much into tbh.

Who rekons?

I understand that they have known since february last year that he would decide at the end of this season, i dont see how that has changed unless he told them in December he was definitely leaving which I really doubt due to some of the internal goings on coming out of the club even up to quite recently - if he was leaving he just would not of bothered doing. Doesn't make a jot of sense.

I forget who it was but some geezer on the radio today was claiming it was known that Pep told the people who matter in Dec that he'd had enough & when you read about his description of how he felt, it's pretty believeable.

Nobody is surprised by this.

It had widely leaked that Pep expressed his weariness to the Board by the end of last season and I insist that his recent management of the games has been purposively deemed to to force their hand to let him out in gentlemen agreement.

I'm just conjecturing here, but there should have been some kind of blockage from the powers at Barca, playing the card of his eternal commitment to his legend status as Catalonian, player and then manager.
as pointed above he's in fact a philosopher of football rather than just a successful football player and manager and he's clearly reached a breaking point after having being up to endless uppermost challenges since joining La Masia when 13-14 yo.

that's also why I don't find so impossible the fascinating and visionary suggestion from Ted. it will obviously has to match the MCFC long term vision, but I wouldn't find it weird at all, if/when he would be provided a chance to develop - in a different, more relaxing means - his love for the football.

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

Director of football?

I doubt he will be coming in as manager, but maybe as part of a management team to set the future direction of the club. Cook has been gone for a bloody long while now, it seems strange that no announcements have been made about the leadership of the club. If the spanish guys had bombed out for whatever reason, there is no apparent reason for not moving on to the next candidates on the list and getting them named.

I just wonder if there will be a big announcement shortly after the end of the season

I think he will go abroad add another dimension to his talent and return to Barca maybe 5/10 years and lead them into another golden period. I hold a Barca membership this has been coming for some time, Th win at Wembley V the SCUM was the time, he knows that now.

Wonder what the significance is of promoting his number 2? Pep has a year off, recharges the batteries and seamlessly slides back into control?

No, i think they want to do the same thing that other clubs have done after their succesfull manager left & try to repeat the whole thing with the assistant manager, thinking that he knows every trick from the last manager. (recently they did the same at Porto, after AVB left, but without major succes)

I cant think of a coach who has had such unmitigated success so early in their management career that Guardiola, he's won the lot, and multiple times, with one of the worlds best clubs. He's clear a top top coach.

Will be interesting to see where he goes to next. I expect he will have learnt a great deal from this season at Barcelona, probably more than he's learnt in his whole coaching ceareer so far.

I would love to see him here in the future but im expecting he will take a couple of years off and then maybe pitch up at the Emiretes...
