Q. DID the fans play their part?
A. The atmosphere was OK but I thought it would be a lot louder.
Obviously the place went wild when City scored yet I thought it would have been more intense.
I think the main reason was that the City fans — desperate for a win in one of their biggest ever matches — were incredibly nervous.

I have to agree. There were long periods when the so called singers sections were completely silent. When I say long, I mean 5/10 minute lulls at a time - watching from the family stand, I commented that the atmosphere was nowhere near as intense as for previous derby games.
Although certain things like staying behind at half and full time were a little different to the norm, I feel the singers sections yet again let us down and left it to other areas to kick the atmosphere up a notch, so in the famiily stand we just did our own thing

The singing sections aren't very good on the whole but there was a fantastic buzz around the ground, even in the 'quiet' bits (for the most part anyway). So much so that when the rags started singing, I couldn't hear them at all where I was sat, just over the general background noise of excited chatter/random encouragement etc. I could see they were singing but I couldn't hear it.
Great atmosphere imo.
