They can see the end is in sight, they don't like it. There is a new team in Manchester and England and it's BLUE, fuck'em all.

Exactly mate Tyler today was horrified the rags could'nt score 8 like they did against Arsehole he must have mentioned that game a dozen times during his commentary.

The commentator in the US (ESPN?) was yelling "it should have been two" when the rags missed a chance right after Scholes got the first, just hoping they'd get a hatful and reduce the goal difference. It was followed by an immediate chorus of "you lucky bastards, it should have been ten" by the City support in the pub

No, not really. He said he didn't think it was all over, and that he had been a City fan long enough not to take it for granted. On another note, did I hear the Swansea manager right when he was going on about the scum trying to get as many goals as possible, and was praising them. Or did I just hear that bit in isolation and miss the gist of it.

Dixon confidently tipped us to beat the barcodes in his betfair column so I think his latest comments can be put in the same category as the doommongerers on here who dare not believe...

Not over keen on Dixon personally; Arsenal fan. No problem with him being an Arsenal fan, just with him pretending to be a City fan.

My prediction for next weekend if Martin Tyler is doing the City game; he will (again) mention Utd winning the European Cup in 1968 & 'eclipsing' us, as it makes him feel better.

He grew up a City fan and still clearly is one. The idea he wouldn't also support Arsenal after such a successful career with them is pretty fanciful.

Exactly. He's an Arsenal fan who once used to be a City fan. Robbie Fowler was once an Everton fan; same thing.

Not the same thing, Dixon always clearly kept an affection for the Blues, possibly because he was a one club player and didn't move around club to club leaving his original love far far behind. Nor did he play for the direct rivals of his boyhood club. Remember the stories of him phoning Seaman singing Blue Moon when he signed for us? He has openly celebrated several times when we have had major wins.

Would be nice if Dixon just nailed his colours to the mast a bit more often...he'll get more work if he does...TV producers the world over are looking for ex-footballers who can a)string a coherent sentence together and b)support City...except sky, who'll probably have Buzzer murdered.

After reading this, I thought it time to resurrect this thread.

http://betting.betfair.com/football/lee ... 12-11.html

Betfair Ambassador and Manchester City fan Lee Dixon is feeling confident ahead of Sunday's match at the Etihad Stadium. Our man explains why there's a blue moon rising...

There was steely resolve about Manchester City's victories over Manchester United and Newcastle which makes me think that they aren't about to blow this golden opportunity to win their first league title for over 40 years. Earlier in the season, the Blues blew away opponents but, in recent weeks, they've ground out results with the focus and professionalism that gets titles won. Sir Alex is ruing United's defeat at Wigan and the draw against Everton but, if it comes down to goal difference, that 6-1 drubbing against City back in October can be seen as a major factor in the destiny of the title.

Roberto Mancini changed the formation against Newcastle and showed tactical acuity when his side needed second-half goals. He's had a full in-tray to deal with this term, managing massive expectations from owners and fans as well as volatile talents Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli. Sir Alex has been talking about City's riches this week but, while money gets you a long way, you need more than that to win the Premier League. I applaud Mancini's performance.

Match Odds

Opta highlight two glaring facts: Queens Park Rangers have picked up fewer away points than any other top flight team and City have dropped only two at home all season. Shall I bother going any further?

Ok. The visitors arrive at the Etihad fighting for their lives, knowing a defeat for them and a win for Bolton will send QPR down. Mark Hughes will have them up for this one. The ex-United legend is astute, driven and has unfinished business with City after they harshly sacked him. He has a splendid record away to City - drawing four, winning once, never losing - and he would love to deny his successor. If QPR pull off a shock, chants of "Hughesy" will ring out from the other side of town, or Buckinghamshire or Singapore or wherever it is Red Devils fans live these days.

Sorry, couldn't resist. And who can blame me? I grew up supporting City, listening to United's bragging, and on Sunday - sweet, blue Sunday - I expect my team to do the business.

He was the only one to say it wasn't all over after the loss to Arsenal, too.

I think Dixon is a real City fan, not a game going one though. He is, however, on MotD as an ex-Arsenal player, not a City pundit, but I can see that changing quite soon. He can double hat for them now.

I've always found him to be fair and perceptive in his analysis.

A classic MOTD moment from April:
"Five reasons why Man City have lost the title - Lee Dixon" - Form, Injuries, Dressing Room, Experience, Team
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17654325

I couldn't have agreed with him more at the time. What has happened since is scarsely believable. All those
problems have been turned round and Utd have faded where they are usually strongest. Brilliant.
