Didn't make much of a difference, to be honest. 10 or 11 opponents in their penalty area - it's still really fucking tricky to get through.
Showed off what a price prick he is, though.

I totally agree, but it did provide beginning of the end of typical City, right??

Very true, and they will probably make a point of it at MotD- and old City player getting himself sent off to help us.

I don't know what all the fuss was about. He hit Tevez, duffed up Nasri and nutted Vinnie. Handbags really. LOL

Was just about to say the same, we should have asked Barton to come up with us to collect a medal. Thanks to the great man!

He didnt give use ENOUGH time, Barton cost 5 minutes by himself and there were a shedload of substitutions plus two regular time goals.

Ex-Manchester City player Joey Barton spoke out over his sending off in the match at the Etihad by claiming he did not think he was guilty of a red card offence.

Barton was sent off in disgrace for elbowing Carlos Tevez during QPR's match at the Etihad stadium and was seen to lash out at Sergio Aguero as he left the pitch.

But after the match he wrote on Twitter: "Can do nothing but apologise to the players and the fans. Still don't think its a sending off. Tried to take 1 of their players with me....

He added: "Still not my proudest moment but who gives a ****, we are safe..........and that is all that matters."

There were ugly scenes on the pitch as Barton contested the decision half way through the second half.

He elbowed Tevez just outside the penalty box and was shown a red card after referee Mike Dean consulted one of his assistants.

Barton argued with the ref and then appeared to strike out at Aguero at his knee before clashing with Vincent Kompany.

He was eventually ushered off the pitch by QPR officials.

At the time the game was tied at 1-1 but QPR went on to take the lead before City hit back with two injury time goals to win 3-2.

Barton's antics provoked outrage among football fans on Twitter.

TV presenter Gordon Burns wrote: "All we all wanted was a level playing field and may the better team win. Joey Barton ruined that with his mindless action. Hope QPR sack him"

Another fan wrote: "Just unbelievable from Joey Barton, even by his standards. Violent and vile."

Just watched it back. Disgusting that he ever played for City. Hope he gets banned for a long, long time. And to have the temerity to say it wasn't a red? Fucking idiot.

When he got sent off today I was immediately reminded of the Spurs 4-3 FA Cup in 2004. I knew today was going to be different, somehow special.

QPR got in the lead with barely an attack and played well, but with 10 or so minutes left I started getting confident, I knew something bigger was due. Weird feeling btw.

Anyway, he's a bellend. We were better with 10 men 8years ago and QPR were better, much better today. We almost went down with him, Newcastle did go down and QPR were close today. He leaves us we just get better and better. He leaves Newcastle , they almost make the Chumps league.

He's the canonical example of a player who does well individually but ruins his team.

Garth Crooks advocating a 6 month ban!

Fellow pundit Garth Crooks added: "This will go beyond the summer. When the FA seee this there will be reprisals. It's extraordinary. You can only describe it as an assault on Carlos Tevez. He should get a six-month ban, for that incident alone."
