It's tastier this way!!

Postby CityFanFromRome » Sun May 13, 2012 6:24 pm

Before the game I was sure we would win and be champions, as most of us I'm sure; then when we went behind with twenty minutes to go I was mildly pessimistic that we could do it, still we had the time to turn it around, but as the minutes passed the hope kept getting weaker. At the start of injury time I was sure we had thrown it away. When Dzeko scored I didn't even celebrate as I thought it was too little too late, but when I saw that ball fall to Sergio, his dribbling in the box and the ball in the net after his shot, I couldn't believe we had done it!

I wasn't a City fan in '99 so I can't compare the emotions but what I know is that after Sergio's goal I went berserk and couldn't stop jumping around for I don't know how long!!!

Surely all of us would have suffered less with a clear, easy 3-0 win, but as long as the final outcome is still that we are champions, a thrilling ending like this gives a lot more emotion and I believe is way, way tastier!!!

The only title deciding game I can remember matching today's for drama was in 1989 (?) when Arsenal had to win at Liverpool and score at least two goals doing so.

It was 1-1 as the game went into injury time and Michael Thomas scored the decisive goal. It's a game even neutrals still remember.

Trust me, today's result - and the manner it was achieved - will never leave you and won't be forgotten.

Didn't Arsenal won with 2-0? I remember they needed to win with 2-0 on Anfield with their title decider and then Alan Smith scored in the late minutes and won them the title.

Anythow, what happend today is the payback for Owen's goal, for Shreks goal in the semi, for Scholes late winner & for the goal that TraNANI brought them the Shield last summer.

I felt exactly the same. Thought we'd fucked it and didn't even celebrate Dzekos goal. Went twatting mental at agueros tho. My mate who I used to go to the match with was in hospital with his wife and newborn and I couldnt bring myself to send him an update when they went ahead. I had been sending him texts all match until they equalised then couldn't give him the bad news until we went up in extra time. I called him and he already knew as he'd been checking. I felt so like a we'd done a man u, but we hadn't as a it'd fan wiould have expected it, whereas I was resigned to fucking it up until the winner went in. Rags would still have been expecting to win it but I gave up hope totally. I couldn't watch the last 10 mins and only went back into the pub at 88 mins! Unbelievable and hangover starting to kick in as I had to come home and put my boys to bed!

Games like that play into the subconcious of a team, its scums spirit of 99, its what allowed them to win countless times when the chips were down.

We have been rewarded with the Premier League, because we kept believing, we kept at it, everything but the kitchen sink, and that includes Balotelli, who changed the game before the strikers were fucking standing still being marked in a line for 92 minutes.

Next season, when the chips are down for us, ALL the players, will have this result in the back of their mind. They will know its never over, Pride In Battle, never say die.

Well, for the last few weeks I've been so nervous about the title race, especially as we got closer and closer to Man U.

Even after winning the game at Newcastle, I refused to get carried away. This is City, I thought, we always do it the hard way or completely balls it up.

And during the second half, I really thought we'd lost it, even with Barton's deserved sending off. It just looked like we couldn't break QPR down and the longer it went on, the more resigned I got. But I never leave before the end because I know what we've also done this season late on, and when Džeko scored to make it 2-2, I still wasn't sure.

But what a finish from Sergio Agüero, what a cool finish too, no panic, just slotted it low and hard. Myself and my friend (both season ticket holders) went absolutely mental, as did everyone else too. It was just one of those moments which will live forever with me as a long life Blue.

To see us win it like that showed that we too can cut it when the chips are down, and just to see the look on Baconface's face afterwards when he'd heard we scored the winner was wonderfully poetic justice.

Pics from today are here too - http://www.flickr.com/photos/zawtowers/ ... 712159412/

Revel in it Blues, because this is OUR City and this is our title!
