Come On, Own Up!

Postby Beefymcfc » Mon May 14, 2012 2:55 pm

Which of you left/went to leave early or turned the TV/Radio off?

The old couple who sit in the front seats just to the right of me got up and buggered off at 83 minutes. My mate turned turned to me at about 85 and said 'I can't cope with this, I think I need to go', to which I replied 'This is City you know'. He stayed.

Anyone honest enough to own up?

Was very close to throwing my beer glass at my flatscreen TV when the 2-1 went in, which would have resulted in me missing the rest of the game and a divorce. Luckily I managed to control my self.

When Dzeko scored the 2-2 I was crawled up in foetal position on the sofa.

I'll just mention, for those who left early, that there was hardly a hold up on the roads as most of the Rags had gone into hiding whilst more than usual City fans didn't bring their cars, they were on the pop.

I turned to my nephew and said that we always score when I have to leave early, to which he replied "let's do it" we left and the rest is history so you all have me to thank, and joey b. we got back in by climbing 20ft up the spirals, cracking view of the presentation, it's all good.

I turned tv off for exactly 1 minute....then as I turned it back on again it was the corner that Dzeko scored in...the rest was a blur...my cat bolted upstairs...he has only just returned to normal.

But there was no way I was going to keep the telly off as I was one of the spastics that left the stadium 5 mins before the end at Gillingham !

At least you got back in. I thought they opened the gates though?

I do love this, encapsulates how I felt when that last goal went in ;-)

I never 'leave' a city game early...not after Gillingham.

This season, I did leave the room when Utd went 4-2 up against Everton, 'knowing' that the league was lost.
Couldn't face the rest of the game, went and did the dishes and only rushed back when I heard the commentator screaming at 4-4.

Did anyone, who left early yesterday, manage to get back into the ground?

I was in Germany watching the Gillingham game when the broadcast was lost. I hopped over my balcony for my birthday BBQ thinking all was lost until mymate shouted down that the game hadn't finished. Fucker was right as well!

i was in a horrific, fucking miserable place...even posting on here about how much i hated Mancini in the heat of the moment and how since he didn't know how to break down 10-man QPR that maybe he deserved the sack. ;)

clearly, he deserves a CROWN...el oh el.

i was fucking shitting it but never turned the tele off, tho i was NOT believing we would pull that shit out UNTIL the buildup of that last segment. I just had a feeling seeing the ball come up through midfield....

Ned truly bottled it, didn't he? ;)

As soon as the QPR second went in I got out of my seat and walked out the ground. I was fairly smashed and wouldn't have done it sober but I was absolutely fuming!!! Punching doors and kicking everything in my way from the ground until I got to Piccadilly. Was mad with myself more than anything for getting carried away at half time and texting and ringing rags. Genuinely didn't think we'd do it.
Got to Piccadilly on the phone to my mate who's a Rovers fan. 'They can fuck off! Getting my money next year for a season ticket again!!! They can fuck right off! This is it! After 15+ years as a season ticket holder I'm done.....' Then he started screaming we'd just scored a 3rd I put the phone down and ran all the way back to the stadium! Got to the stadium dripping and absolutely fucked!! Walked to the turnstile showing my ticket and I'd. Copper gripped me and dragged me away shouting 'do one or I'll put you in the back of a van!' Tried talking to him reasonably but he wasn't having any of it. Proper not look you in the eye just shout at the top of his voice power trip copper. Shook his hand and told him I think they're doing a brilliant job.
Walked to the next turnstile and there was a meat head trying to climb the gate. Two stewards were occupied by him so I legged it up the gate and hopped over the barrier of the second bend of the walk way. Didn't stop running until I got back to my seat!
Hugged my brother and was just in time to see us lift the cup!!

I sat down on the floor and started talking to myself.

1 billion thoughts crossed my mind, then Dzeko scored. When Edin equalised, i was convinced that was it, the final nail in the coffin and i rather wanted us to lose, but then it all happend.

With five left i was in the concourse fucking fuming going mental to anyone that would listen about those dickheads selling the champions scarves in town and how they jinxed it. I was proper off my rocker i then watched the injury time from the top of the stairs when Edin scored i didnt even celebrate i was still fuming then when Sergio scored i ran around the concourse hugging anyone and everyone and then mooching back to my seat to find my crew and went mental.

Some great stories, Gillingham all over again. Can you imagine in many years when your grandson asks where you were?

I can't believe it but my dad left when we were 1-2 down. Not because he gave up on us he actual believed that if he was there we wouldn't do it. it was the "Ultimate Sacrifice" and he missed the best 5 minutes of our lives!

Even at 2-2 I said we should stick to the plan. No way it would have happened if we handnt had left. :)

Happy to get back in via a big gate and had much better views from tier 2.

I didn't leave the ground early but around the 75th minute, when I was at my wits' end, I had to leave my seat and go for a cig on the spiral. The feeling I had at 2-1 down was like nothing I have ever felt before - utter, utter dejection and despair - I just couldn't see where we were going to get a goal from. I returned to my seat at around 80 mins for the most emotionally draining 15 minutes of my life. What an incredible experience, one that no amount of money in the world could replace. I went from sheer despair, to a glimmer of hope at 2-2 to complete ecstasy at 3-2. So proud of the players' never-say-die attitude and Mancini's substitutions which changed the game for us. Today I have been in an almost dream state - I still can't believe we snatched victory from the jaws of defeat such was the drama that unfolded at the end; I'm still pinching myself now and don't know when it will sink in. Only City could do that and in a slightly masochistic way, I'm glad that we haven't lost complete touch with our roots - there is still an element of typical City there, one of the things that binds us long-suffering fans together, however typical City now means putting the fans through the ringer but still managing to get the victory. Love it!
