Been away for a long time but how could I stay away after yesterday?
Supported City since 1723 or it seems that way. (that is nearly 25 past 5 for the slow people.)
Started going to The Swamp on free tickets when I was at nursery. Les Olive handed these out like confetti just to get the numbers, and we could only watch the reserves. Good eh?
Nah! Went once to Maine Road and stood under the clock in the pissing rain and I was hooked. Derek Kevan was playing. Stan Horne too I think. I won't say never looked back - I did. But at Maine Road I felt part of it, part of the family, not a paying customer like at the Swamp. It's the amazing humour at City that draws me back. Anyone remember Alan and the spontaneous adulation he was given at our club, before drifting back into relative obscurity again.
Memories:-
1, The League Cup semi at Maine Road; Ged Keegan; scarf swinging to the sheer noise of Que Sara Sara etc
2, Enjoying the FA Cup final with my son last year. He had not seen us win anything.
3, Enjoying this QPR last game with him via text. In textland no-one can hear you scream.
4, Colin Bell's comeback. End of.
5, Colin being done; Glyn being done; Alf Inge being done.
6, Being the second class Citizens for so long - no longer.
Hope to be with you for much longer this time.
Pete
