Vincent Kompany

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Vincent Kompany

Postby Niall Quinns Discopants » Thu May 17, 2012 2:47 pm

He just turned 26 last month, has been with us for four years, is our skipper, intelligent and combosed centerback and one of the best if not THE best centerback in the world right now. He is married to a mancunian bird so will not be looking to leave any time soon. To think we can still enjoy another seven or eight years (injuries permitted) of him is just amazing.

Vince The Skipper, we salute you!
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I was at his debut in Europe in 2003. He played at Anderlecht with Rapid. He was 17 years old and played sharp, almost like you know him now. The game ended 0-0 and in the second leg, the belgians won. I remember some articles that praised Hugo Bross for using such a young fella.

Who would had known where he will end up and how big he will be for us.

I remember when he broke through as a youngster. I read he's supposed to be a top dog in the future and all the top clubs were looking at him. I most certainly wasn't able to imagine he would fulfill his potential at MCFC!
Hopefully Vinnie isn't going anywhere and stays here until the very end of his career.

I have a feeling she's not a City fan, though, from the pause he made during his interview before he said 'how important' the title battle was to Mancunians. Also, as far as I'm aware, the woman normally seen attending matches with him is his sister.

Let the witch hunt commence! ;)

A goodly number of our players are around the same age as Vinnie and, in footballing terms, all just coming into their prime.

On that basis, in the next three to five years, the team should really move up into a different stratosphere, when compared to the rest of the competition in the Premier League.

Hopefully, at the end of that term we'll see a load of talented youngsters coming through the ranks and pushing hard for a place in the first team, to carry on the good work.

I wish it was Vincent who lifted the FA Cup last season... Far more dedicated to this club and could be our most decorated ever captain by time he retires

Theres not one center back in the world I would have over Kompany. Not a single one.

Next summer I'd tie him down with a 5 year contract to see him up to 32.

Ive a feeling he'll be lifting that trophy he lifed on Sunday a fair few times over the next few years!

Hes the closes player that i see who play like Maldini and Maldini is one of the greatest. So simply by that fact and the fact that defence player just get bether and bether when they older hes one of the best moves of the club.

Mmmmm......OK, without mentioning any names I can think of, perhaps, one who might just manage to shade it over Vinnie.....

......OK, OK, I can't contain myself any more :- it has to be NEVEN SUBOTIC and he happens to be a year or two younger than the Kompany Sergeant Major, so......
