With a reasonable European run next season, and dependent on the Chelsea or Spurs qualification, it is reasonable to think we could and should overtake; Spurs, Roma, Seville, Hamburg, Werder Bremen and Villarreal. Dependent on how PSV do, we possibly get above them too. That would leap us to around the 21st placing from our present 28th.
Looking at the coefficient list,of the 27 clubs ahead of us, only 13 have qualified for the CL next season, 7 for the Euro league (Spurs/Chelsea may change that) and 6 have failed to qualify for either comp Chelsea/Spurs. A decent run will do us the World of good.
Another side effect of overtaking Spurs means we would qualify as Ordinary members of the ECA rather than Associated. We don't appear to have many friends, if any, at the top and the extra political muscle will help us.

The whole shabang was organised by the big clubs, from the big countries, by coercing UeFA, to ensure they maximised their income. The fact that not only is this perversion linked to seedings, keeping the big clubs apart and allowing them an easier ride through each competition, it gets even more perverse when it comes to slicing the cake, to share out the TV money.

How about we win the CL next year, and that puts you right the top of Pot 1, simples :)
Pot 3 last year, Pot 2 guaranteed this year ... hello CL and hello Pot 1 next!
Are you sure about that? I never heard it before.AG7 wrote:There's another angle here that no one seems to be considering ... no, I'm not even going to entertain any ideas talking about not qualifying for champions league ... It can't be true - when Liverpool won but didnt qualify for the following season they entered in the qualifying rounds and not the group stage.
AG7 wrote:If chelsea wins today, they will be placed no1 on top of pot 1 for the draw ... that's the new rules. Whoever is the winner is top of pot 1 and then ret follows as per their coeffs!
