I think he means "as long as they pay".

Still largely bollocks what he's saying though.

I read that as meaning 'pay' as in are 'punished' - i.e. we will carry on until punished showing an intention on Twatini's behalf to perform a punishment

I'm pretty sure he means we will have to pay when the owners leave, as in we will go bankrupt .

I don't think he has much idea what he is talking about & is just trying to pretend it's all about protecting us. I don't think he's even looked into City's finances or has any idea about us apart from the fact that we sign players and are likely to cause the elite problems. He is just doing favours for his mates & has not thought it through. He's just a fat, incompetent, freeloading cunt.

Of course - that makes much more sense - just my CITY paranoia kicking in

But of course that shows that he talks out of his arse and does not understand the position at CITY

Ted Hughes wrote:If you look back at his quotes about City all along, none of them have given any impression that he's even bothered to look at what we are doing. They are just the same kind of ignorant nonsense a rag in the pub would come out with.

He has just set it all in motion & just hopes it all works out. He has left others to try & sort out the details.

Here's a similar quote which shows how his thinking is puddled:

“I don’t know where we go with this system,’’

he lamented. “If they don’t earn money they will leave

and the clubs will disappear.

Check this one out:

I am a big fan of Real Madrid or Barcelona where the socios [members] are the voice of the club. I like the

fact that the clubs belong to the fans. The only ones with that local identity are the fans. Everything else

has changed: the president is foreign, the players are foreign, the coach is foreign. But they stay. Football

became popular because of this identity.”

Now read this:

(CNN) -- Michel Platini, the president of the governing body for European football (UEFA), has hit out at the

large fee offered by Real Madrid for the Portugal playmaker Cristiano Ronaldo.

"These transfers are a serious challenge to the idea of fair play and the concept of financial balance in our

competitions."

"UEFA is working hard with clubs to set up a new set of rules as soon as possible to clean up the system and give

it a more solid, transparent base," he added.

Also, in reference to the points we were discussing earlier:

SPIEGEL: In the summer, an investor from Qatar took over a majority stake in Paris Saint Germain and spent almost €90 million for new players. Some people apparently believe that success in sports can still be bought. Perhaps because your fair play regulations don't stipulate any concrete penalties?

Platini: It's not about killing the clubs; we want to help them. There is a range of possible sanctions, including monetary fines, a ban on signing new players and the exclusion from competitions.

SPIEGEL: The clubs are sure to look for loopholes. Manchester City, for example, is now receiving the unbelievable sum of £400 million (€458 million). It is supposedly advertising money, part of a 10-year contract with Abu Dhabi's state-owned airline. But the company is run by a half-brother of the club owner. One could argue it is sham sponsoring.

Platini: That will also be monitored. We have an expert commission tasked with determining which sponsorship deals are in line with market conditions. Then, we will decide on whether that is acceptable operative income or not. Not everything will be easy and, at first, not everything will be perfect. But the political will to begin is there.

He's all over the fucking place.

This is what I'm talking about Ted, Platini knows exactly where we've been at all along, and that of other teams such as Real. The problem he has had to face is that he has had to be reactive to varying events such as the Ronaldo deal and our very own Etihad deal. As clubs show they can make it he has to move the goal-posts in an effort to placate his bosses.

The whole aim of these regulations was to stop clubs from getting into large debt yet now the aim is to stop clubs spending their own money. Platini has had to be proactive towards his ECA bosses whilst being reactive to clubs like us.

Hi lads.

I've seen on this forum a photo which shows how the FFP will keep big boys as the big boys in the european football.
goes something like this: big clubs play in UCL -> more revenue -> more spending power -> better players -> big clubs are more succesfull -> UCL -> more money and gap widens etc etc..

something like that? sorry i don't remember it properly

if someone could post that again I'd be grateful

He hasn't got a fucking clue mate.

He's talking about our owners walking out when they are actually signing up to long term projects. He hasn't even bothered to look into that side of things & find out the truth becuse he has no real interest in it. He only brought in fair play rules in oredr to try & stop us buying players; he doesn't give a flying fuck whether we go bankrupt or not.

He also knows that there's no sure way to stop us.

If there will be a challenge it will be over sponsorship and whats "fair price". Everyone talks about Bayern Munich being the model club but they have just had lucrative sponsorship deals from both adidas and Audi, both of which are owners. So if they can to that why can we not? Throw in Bayer Leverkeusen and Wolfsburg who are entirely owned, and sponsored by, companies and all of a sudden German model clubs dont look so rosy.
Light travels faster than sound.
Thats why some people appear bright until they open their mouth.

DISCLAIMER- My views are mine alone, and probably rubbish anyway.

We'll have to disagree on this mate. For me, it's not his understanding, it's his stance. He's coming under increased pressure from the big boys and the words 'Breakaway League' will be echoing around his myopic mind. Just when he wanted to concentrate on his FIFA post as well.

This article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... nanza.html

indicates the value to us of CL qualification - along with a few more sponsorships and getting some of the 'legacy players. such as Ade and Bridge off the payroll - we might well meet the FFPR anyway

I can see plans for a new or developed stadium coming through mext year as we see the Etihad sold out and a waiting list for SCs.

All very positive - I worry that I might come across sometimes as a 'doom-monger' re FFPR.

I am actually very positive - becuase our management team are so good both on and off the field - but also I do see the old guard determination to protect themselves through FFPR (or indeed whatever it takes). Articles like this demonstrate how they have so much to lose and they will not allow that to happen and I just worry that a lot of fans take too much comfort in assuming that FFPR will just get sorted - the Sheik is too clever etc

Bottom line is that Chelsea, scum-twats, Liverpool, Spurs, CITY, Arsenal simply do not fit into 4 CL places.

My personal dream is that all the clubs apart from the scum push on strongly - I will take the risk to ourselves if it meant that there is any hope that the scum could drop out of a CL place - they have (in my highly biased view) been getting away with having a pretty average side for years - who knows if they just flopped one year..............

Imo it's important that the scum have at least a sniff of a slight chance of wining stuff for the next few years, as otherwise the Glazers may sell up. We want them to hang in there whilst we build up our income to similar level so they can't suddenly start spending fortunes & forcing us to compete thus having to go into battle with Platini before we are ready.

Agreed - but far too rational - my absolutely obsessive hatred of the scum is only marginally behind my love for CITY - I am unfortunately one of those that would sacrifice a lot to see the end of the evil empire!!!
