City trio happy to stay

Postby Mark (Blue Army) » Thu May 24, 2012 8:34 am

Pablo Zabaleta insists Manchester City's Argentine trio of himself, Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez are happy at the club and have no plans to leave.

Aguero, who scored the winning goal against Queens Park Rangers to clinch the title, has been mooted with a big money move to Real Madrid.

Tevez, who went AWOL during last season after a fall-out with Roberto Mancini, has been linked with a switch to long-term suitors AC Milan this summer.

There have also been suggestions Zabaleta could also be on the move from the Etihad Stadium, with Barcelona credited with an interest in his services.

However, Zabaleta claims all three players are enjoying life at City and will reject any approaches to move on this summer.

"The three of us spend a lot of time together, Sergio lives five minutes away," Zabaleta told ManC magazine.

"It's great for Carlos, for Sergio, for me. We play together for the national team and I played with them in the youth teams.

"For us it's a new experience here. Whenever you leave your country you learn a lot of things.

"The opportunity we have in England is making a big impact in our lives. The culture is different, the football is different, we are really enjoying it here. Manchester is one of the best places in the UK."

You're all very welcome, wouldn't like to see us break up the Premier League Champions team (just thought I'd say it once more).

"The opportunity we have in England is making a big impact in our lives. The culture is different, the football is different, we are really enjoying it here. Manchester is one of the best places in the UK."

And good to see Zab's is enjoying his time here, one of my favourite combatants.

If Tevez, Dzeko, Balotelli & Aguero are all planning staying then there is no point in chucking millions at Van Persie or Cavani, Llorente, anyone else. It would be different if we'd finished the season badly, then perhaps we would have to force one or two out, but all these guys have now won a title with City & there's no telling how that could improve them next season.

It's a bigger gamble bringing a new man in, than giving these guys another chance. Tevez is key. So long as he's there, we are not relying on Dzeko & Balotelli, so if they struggle we still have two top strikers.

Signing Hazard or similar would pretty much sort our forward options & leave us to concentrate on other areas.

Absolutely. Should Tevez stay, we shouldn't even consider getting new strikers in. One of Balotelli and Dzeko is going to flop for good next season I feel but I think both got enough talent (and enough goals this past season) to warrant another year and another chance.

van Persie is my least favourite option anyway. 29 years old with HORRENDOUS injury record. Gifted goal scorer for sure but would command massive fee and wages and there's max three good seasons in him left. If he manages to stay fit. Which I don't think will be the case.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

RVP fills me with dread. I don't trust him & I can't stand the fucker either.

I was absolutely convinced that we wouldn't go near him because he doesn't fit our transfer profile at all but the rumours have been so persistent that it's hard to imagine that there isn't at least some truth in them.

Perhaps he's just a backup plan for if Dzeko, Balo or Tevez decide they want to leave ? I suppose you have to test the water & go through the motions even if you're not going to sign these blokes, or be left behind if you then decide you do want to make a bid.

im sure the press will spin it into a negative story if we give them enough time.

Zabaleta Future In Doubt

Title hero Pablo Zabaleta has refused to rule out a move away from Manchester City this summer, casting grave doubts about his future at the club.

Of perpetually wantaway striker Carlos Tevez, Zabaleta told ManC magazine "[we] spend a lot of time together....We play together for the national team and I played with [him] in the youth teams." Such loyalty towards a player who continues to agitate for a way out of Manchester will alarm City fans, and leaves more questions than answers about the fallout of a Tevez transfer and who might be following him out the door.

Zabaleta also admitted that his move to Manchester from Espanyol and the sunny climes of Barcelona had "impacted" his life. When asked if Manchester was the city best suited to him in England, Zabaleta stated that it was just "one of [many]" cities in the UK, opening up a potential move to London and European champions Chelsea.
"Certainly our programme is a full one, but as a player and as a manager I've always felt that there is only one way to go into a season...and that's to try to win every game.... While we are in four major competitions we shall try to win four major competitions." - Joe Mercer

So they took the interview and added bits here and there, what a bunch of wankers.

If it was that convincing I guess I have a future in football journalism. Result.
