What I dont understand is why the premier league clubs pay 7 figure salaries to these show pony managers when they could get half a dozen fans to do the job for free - the internet ones seem to be the best

Exactly. I'd have had it wrapped up around Christmas time.

Why aren't you making millions/week then? Armchair know-it-all fans, who think they can do better than professionally trained managers who have previously won titles with 20 years experience both playing and managing, piss me off. There is a reason that Roberto is paid millions; because he brings success and hundreds of millions in additional revenue. Managing is much more than putting a lineup on paper and to think you can do better is a bird-brained fart of a thought.

Sacking them is easy Mate....replacing them is more difficult.

Is the negative Mancini you post about, the same negative Mancini that increased our goals for tally from 60 in 2011, by over half that figure again to 98, whilst also managing to balance the books with a better defensive record.

The same negative Mancini that saw City not only win the League, but increase our points total by 18pts?

The same Mancini whose man management skills caused him to rule over such a breakdown of team spirit that City only managed to fight until the very last seconds of the season, when most felt all was lost.

Should I go on?......

You always do John!

Of course you're right Mr68, as is usually the case.
But within those figures (And I did love the football in the first half of the season) there was a spell of away games where we scored only a handful of goals in nine games, lost five of them, rarely looked like scoring and culminated in one of those gutless, joyless pathetic performances at Arsenal that were a Mancini trademark last season.
Only once it became 'shit or bust' did we come out of our shell again.
On the man management skills issue, I believe that Bob dropped a massive bollock when he opened his gob in Munich before he'd thought. It wiped off half of Tevez's value in a thrice and cost us the services of our best striker for six months. And before anybody says anything, I know Carlos is a little shit, but the manager is meant to think clearly.
City and sniffing knickers.
Come on Blues.

Piccs..."Yup, I always do....:-)"

I think you are expecting far too much in far too short a time, in the League which is probably the hardest in the World to win. There are reasons why it took such clubs like the rags, and Chelsea so long to reach their 1st titles, reasons why established clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal are unable to sustain their competitive levels and reasons why the likes of Spurs and Newcastle seem to fall away at crucial times. The level of competition is high and the margins for error are narrow.

There has never been a perfect team. The most successful Champions, (Chelsea 2005 with 95pts), still dropped 19pts along the way. 19pts of mistakes and imperfection and that Chelsea team still remain the most successful Prem team ever. Consider too that, that team was the result of many years and many millions of pounds worth of investment and planning.

Do you really think that this present City side is the finished article? I think the majority of our squad has yet to reach anywhere near its potential. Despite being Champions, we are still very much "work in progress" and still only at the start of our evolution. Mancini will make mistakes, he will also on occasion be out-thought by other managers.
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT

To be fair, John, everyone would have won it with that wealth.
next season the double with CL is a minimum requirement.

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

A worrying prospect as, in his village, they would probably have a kick around with it while they were cooking the rest of him :O

I believe Mancini did make some mistakes (who doesn't?) but overall he did a fantastic job. Adept on the PR front, too, which is an important part of the brief with such a high-profile club.

He's still going up the learning curve, is pragmatic and willing to adapt. With these qualities, and with what he's already achieved, he could become an all-time great.
