'four very strong attackers..'

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

'four very strong attackers..'

Postby Ted Hughes » Wed May 30, 2012 10:59 am

Just thought I'd post this in its own thread due to all the stories of Dzeko, Balo, Tevez leaving, Van Persie/Cavani signing etc.

Roberto Mancini has suggested that Manchester City won’t be bidding for Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Gaston Ramirez this summer. “I have four very strong attackers.”

The newly-crowned English champions have been pushed in recent weeks with a return to the Italian market to reinforce their squad for next year.

Milan’s Ibrahimovic has previously been linked with a move to the club, whilst Bologna’s Ramirez has an offer from an English club, according to his agent. However, neither are on Mancini’s agenda.

“Zlatan is a champion, but I have four very strong attackers,” the Coach told reporters on Wednesday.

That's being claimed as a direct quote from Mancini, in which case, the Van Persie/Cavani rumours don't seem to hold much water.

I might go back to smugly saying there's no chance we're interested in him, and pretend I never wavered.

Has to be an idle threat and/or wishful thinking.

You can't stop a whole country playing football. Thousands of people would lose jobs, you would have big fuck off stadiums sitting there doing nothing and the clubs wouldn't have any way of paying for maintenance and it would have a big impact on their economy with all the money from advertising and jobs lost.

The Scots have managed it.

I don't watch very much Italian football, so I don't know too much about the league system apart from Serie A and B, but with a quick google search I found there is something like 268 teams only in the top four tiers, and there are 10 tiers all together. If they canceled it for three seasons, they would never be able to rebound and it would kill their economy. I do agree that something has to be done, but this would have far too much of an effect. There are so many things they would lose money on, such as away day airfare/travel, eating out while traveling, hotels, no champions league traveling revenue, it would be horrendous.

The Scots have managed it.

that made me chuckle, Ted! well and properly.
the comparison of Scots with Italians... :-)

For the records I definitively stopped to be arsed of Serie A when, after the Calciopoli Fixing Scandal (Moggi/juventus etc.) it seemed that a fresh new wind started blowing... Former CONSOB Chairman and top Jurist Guido Rossi, a brave and ruthless man, was appointed as FA Commissioner and he started an extensive cleaning work... It lasted just three month before the Juventus/AC Milan Mafia restored the status quo!!!
For proper reference and understanding the fixing of Italian Top flight is determined throughout the Juventus/AC Milan stronghold of the Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A (Italian for National League of Professionals Serie A): the referees not only report functionally to that governing body but their entire carreer is determined by it. Any time that the so called "lesser Clubs" have tried to gang up to elect the Chairmain of this Body, Juventus & AC Milan had fought them back playing the hardball, including usually the relegation of the Club who led the riot of the "plebs" featured through extensive use of very very controversial refereing decisions.
Accordingly Prof. Monti is now too much busy with reforming the Whole Mess to be able pay too much attention to football.

On topic:
I have expressed my firm convincement that - if somehow the Club have found a way to keep Kia's head down - there is no need - at all - to reshufle the striking force.

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

In Roger Ailes/Donnie Drumpf's words: "don't know it for a fact, but many people say so..."
there must be some truth, then!
