I've found it interesting talking to a few people from South East Asia. When it comes to football, they've simply had no concept whatsoever of loyalty. I don't know whether it's a cultural thing, or whether they feel totally unconnected to teams they're watching from the other side of the world, but a significant number simply pick the team that they think will win the Premiership that season, and support them.

If I owned a football club and my commercial director told me that my club had 700 million supporters, I would ask him three things:

1.) Was our 200,000 capacity stadium sold out over the previous season?
2.) Are we debt free with a couple billion in the bank?
3.) Did we just win the quadruple again?

If he can't answer "yes" to all three of those questions I would sack him on the spot.

Fair point. I'd at least want to know that we had all their names and addresses on a database, do that we could send them all marketing info. After all, we only need to get £1 off each of them and we'd be pretty much debt free.

I'm particularly impressed by the way that 101% of people in the world love the rags is now being quoted as fact - see the announcements that they're to be sponsored by Chevrolet and its all over it. The good news about that is that I can consider buying an Audi again, whereas I'd never have bought a Chevy

I can say that here in the U.S.A...GENERALLY speaking....if you see a little white kid with a kit on , he is a Manchester United Fan. If you see a lil Latino kid you will see a Messi or Barcelona Jersey on them. I work a part time job at night at a pizza joint and this one kid comes in with his Man United shirt on . I immediately begin to raz him as this was before the 6-1 mauling. I asked him why he liked Man U and he said because his Grandmom was from there. In reality, its because they have been so successful and they are advertised here. This will all begin to fade now thank goodness.

That Kid still owes me Push ups for the Mauling, I didnt see him after that game.......weird !

I left vodafone 8 years ago because they sponsored the scum. Phoned to terminate my contract and got the usual spiel about why I should stay. Told the lad that I was going because of their sponsorship and he said fair enough mate I'm a Chelsea fan and I wouldn't stay either.
