No mate your not the only one, but would you be comfortable as a ceo of your company after serving half an apprenticeship where you were kicked out of one company for being shit but hen did pretty well in the next one and all of a sudden its zoooom from the shop floor to the boardroom.

Too much too soon for me. He has a good head on his shoulders but liverpool is massive. No matter how much we belittle them at the moment, the job comes with pressure that few other jobs can match. He has to produce, there is no 3 or 5 year plan, they are already frustrated at the amount of shit in recent years. King clueless got the boot and he won their first trophy for 6 years.

Poison chalice.

I think Liverpool have a far, far bigger administrative setup than Swansea (talking about Director of Football and numerous other backroom positions here). This should alleviate much of the pressure from the owners on Rodgers's position.

Were he given the chance to rebuild the squad, with Liverpool being allowed to linger in 6th-8th while he did so, I'm sure he could build a fantastic squad.

One worry is the disparity between Rodgers's hands-on approach and Liverpool's broad scouting network. I don't know how the two will work, and there may be a significant conflict.

Had we appointed Leslie after the takeover, I'd agree. Both have earned their reputation through over-performing on a shoestring and identifying bargains.

If they gave him 3 years regardless of results, he could be a very good manager there. However, the fans won't be patient with one who's not their own. He could easily be out by Xmas if they have a bad run.

Saying that, Mancini has been walking a tightrope with me for 2 1/2 years and has an FA Cup and a league title to his name. Perhaps it's easier to look at other clubs more sensibly.

Strange appointment for a club that needs Champions League football yesterday.

Maybe, but if they appoint Van Gaal as DOF that should cause utter chaos.

I agree Rogers has dome a good job, but history is littered with good young managers that failed at the bigger clubs, when the media fell on them in a big heap.

Surely a man who has been successful at a big club would be less of a gamble? Capello has brought League success everywhere, and would've been a banker, even if no-one likes the bloke.

Your regard of Henry and Co. is not in proportion with their achievements.

In terms of progress on the pitch, they have wasted the better part of two seasons and now look prepared to start over again on an untested "project" manager, when the club's immediate future is so dependent on a quick return to the Champions League. I rate Rodgers too but I feel he's being set up for a fall, particularly at a club whose supporters are so deluded that many of them believed Mourinho or Klopp would come to them.

The good news is I can continue to watch Martinez's career with interest and not have to actively root against him.

Good luck Brendan. Season starts in 9 weeks and Lech Poznan might be in the hat.

No you are not but there are few things here. He has never been consistent winner anywhere. I feel he has fantastic ideas how to prepare teams and how to make them play but habit of winning is something you should have BEFORE you join big Club. Then there's the delusional Liverpool supporters. He will be under immense pressure to deliver immediately which he will not be able to do with players he has got.

Good thing here is that I have him earmarked to replace Platt or Kidd once one of the two [strike]rag bastards[/strike] coaches move elsewhere and Rodgers has been sacked in Liverpool. He should be just about ripe enough to be assistant with us at that stage and maybe eventually develope into fantastic manager once he learns more under Mancini.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I think it's a belting appointment. The only criticism I had of Swansea last season was that for all their possession they lacked the cutting edge to truly tear teams apart. He'll have the resources to do this now. Suarez will have goals served to him on a platter.

When you dominate possession as his sides do you buy time as a manager. He'll be fine. Beware Scouse 2. Firstly they'll go back to being Scouse 1 and then they'll challenge for top 4.

They only have suarez who can score and he isnt exactly prolific. Carroll is as much use as a chocolate fireguard, kuyt looks like he is on his way, bellers is another year older and on the decline. Gerrard is injury prone and will probably get injured at the euros, downing......enough said!

Watch liverpool bring in grant holt and danny graham to solve all their problems LOL. They need a massive investment in the team, about £100m will close the gap back to 4th. Cant see them doing it though. That liverpool squad is the worst in years. King kenny did it to them last time and souey was left with shit and he has gone and done it again.

Started disliking Rogers after he got pissed at Mancini for suggesting that Swansea will be an easy game for the scum... then Swansea rolled over for the scum

I think they'll give him longer.

My theory on it is that because they spunked over 100m under kenny, they now need a guy who can work with a "growing team" with a small budget.

The potential we'll find out about imo.

Rodgers in his first big test of man-management:

"To consider a loan period for someone the club spent £35m on isn't something we're looking to do at this moment in time.

Andy will be the same as every other player - if there's ever an offer that comes in we'd look at it as a club and see if it's going to be worthwhile for the club and the team as a whole.

The club invested £35m in him. People talk about whether he can fit into my style or not, but if you're a club and you spend £35m on a player you'd like to think he can fit into whatever style the team plays."

Translation: "Can you believe this donkey is our club record signing? £35M we paid. THIRTY FIVE. MILLION. POUNDS. For fuck's sake. Somebody please bail me out here."
