As an ex season ticket holder who has been forced to give a ticket up due to family illness, i think this is easily explained.

When watching at the ground you are sharing the suffering / anxiety / joy (mainly suffering) with 40K+, whereas watching in the pub / at home etc you are in a much smaller group and you therefore take on a much greater mantle.

IE If you are watching alone, then you have sole responsibility for what transpires.....only you can jinx things
You watch in the pub, then a bit more collective responsibility
At the ground you have all your fellow fans at your back.

I have found it hard this year and last (success) to not get overly upset if the result goes against us, whereas as a season ticketer you were already out with mates etc.......and from personal experience, the disappointment was much easier to deal with in person (IE at the ground) rather than home alone.

Hate how you mentioned 'jinx', it's embedded in most football fans to have pre match rituals, and things can be jinxed and some say our name is on the cup and it's written in the stars! It's fate! Sorry it's all bollocks and drives me mental, it's about ability, confidence, drive and #togetherness, and always will be. History never strikes twice unless it's a coincidence and considering the game of football has been going for well over 100 years the game is littered with them. Its the people who go to the game are not proper fans!

When I was watching on the TV, I went miles more bananas than most of the fans in the stadium, most of them just jumped up and down in the same spot, I ran around like a complete loony for about five minutes, then I sat down and cried for about five minutes. Didn't see any of the so called fans in the stadium crying like a big fat hairy baby!

I didn't see any of the fans in the stadium opening a fuck off big bottle of champagne.

Ha! The proper the proper fans were at home being properly miserable an then properly celebrating and posting shite on the forum at the same time!

Still wish I'd been at the stadium though!

More grown men crying in one place than I've ever seen and a smuggled flask of whiskey AND cigar to celebrate at my seat! Sorry mate - didn't think anyone would take this any more seriously than the OP. Was meant to be a bit of fun to be honest.
Of course the atmosphere in the living room is different to the pub and totally different to the stadium. There may be a case that some people feel more secure to let their emotions go when they are on their own at home but as I said in my post, I wish I had been at the stadium!

I can cope keeping an eye on the matchday thread if we are winning/looking good

If we are playing like shit...I know exactly what will be happening in that thread and I already feel bad/stressed enough without looking in that thread and exacerbating the problem.

In terms of abusing players on here well, it does zero harm to the team as someone already said....and the evidence trail it often provides is an excellent way that people can make themselves look like proper numpties ;-)

pretty much the same as the board traffic on here, if we lose we hit new records, if we win the league its something of a ghost town in comparison. Blues love to have a fuclin moan, its an inbuilt thing we have to grow out of now we dont need to do it every week.

I thought the QPR fans were very good, majority stayed behind to see the presentation. What a year for them.
