i completly disagree, villas team is far better than ours in 2006/07, for a start bent and Agbonlahor is better strikeforce than nearly any we had pre Thaksin imo.

Look at there team on paper:

Given

Hutton Dunne Collins Warnock

Albrighton Ireland Petrov Nzogbia

Bent Agbonlahor

.

Right lets go through that team. Given is good, I will accept, Hutton is absolutely awful - cant defend and is a walking booking. Dunne and Collins are painfully slow though acceptable but have nothing behind them, whilst Warnock is a jobber, end of. I'd say 2 new full-backs needed, minimum, plus a centre half to add some pace/depth.

Albrighton has some potential but is lightweight, Petrov sadly may not play again but thats another story, Ireland's a complete fruitbat though obviously in training he is better than Maradona ever was, whilst Nzogbia did the square root of nothing last season and wants out. Thats 3-4 midfielders required.

Bent is the standout player, but have you watched Agbonlahor play for the past 2 years? He's been awful - have a couple of really good mates who are Villa fans and they tell me his last good game was under Martin O'Neill. Thats 1-2 strikers needed to play or add depth.

depends where your aiming really, they should be aiming for 10-8 and with the squad they have now and a couple of additions there more than capable of getting there which is a massive improvement on 2 places outside the relegation zone this season.

With the right manager and i believe they have got the right manager, that team is more than good enough to achieve that. Also your point about agbonlahor he actually had 3-4 game run this season where he looked back to his best, there is potential in him its just a matter of gettin it out of him, the likes of mcleish and houllier couldnt but i think lambert like O neill can be that man. Nzogbia didnt come a bad player overnight, we know what ireland can do when the manager gets the most out of them, thats my point really. The defence is as good if not better than about 5 or 6 teams that finished ahead of them this season. The talent is there, the potential is there its just a matter of getting it out of them.

We had little to no talent in our 06/07 squad, without dunne and distin we would of been toast.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
