The Dutch looked good just couldn't finish anything. Until they made their subs then everyone waited for someone else to do it.
Spoiling for a fight are ya! You're having a Lahm ;-)
Germany 1 up, can't say they don't deserve it. Tranny gone missig again.
Yep! And Lahm with his performance should silence his followers, awful tonight , his passing is atrocious,

Tranny must be one annoying twat to play with, spent half the game rolling his eyes to the sky at his teamates incompete. Get on with the game and stop posing.

Best team lost imo.
If Mourinho was in charge of that Portugal squad, they would be serious contenders. And Helga Postiga would be watching on TV.
Nani is really shit.

Postiga is truly gash. They should play Tranny up front with Meireles just off and be more direct.

What I've noticed about Tranny in the national squad is that he will play a ball into a player who has no chance of dealing with it. He just can't take the responsibility, easier to palm it off onto someone else.

Every team so far is just riddled with shit passes & dodgy defending. It's like watching England playing England.
At least Portugal produced occasional moments of individual skill though, the Germans produced nothing.
I just hope Spain can actually produce something close to the level of club football as so far all we are seeing is players (even the quality players) playing at less than half their ability.

As always, the first game is full of nerves. Gets better through the stages and then gets more nervy towards the final.
I thought Portugal were gash, showing very little until they needed to. Germany were the best team for me and shows how views differ.

Portugal set themselves up to draw, then shat themselves when they went a goal down and had to actually try to play a bit.

Glad Germany won and my Golden Boot candidate scored. They looked nowhere near as good as they should've...
but man oh man, that Mats Hummels was a BEAST. Easily MOTM...and Kasey Keller is an awful commentator.

I thought that was pretty standard game from Lahm. Not one of his best but certainly not one of his worst. Constantly out of position and getting fleeced by decent wingers but that's just his game.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Imo you could train Dzeko to play in his position if you were that desperate & he'd be better than him. Plus Dzeko is a Premier League winner. If he's to leave, it should only be for an exeptional striker imo. Muller would not give us anything we don't already have.
Muller is still very young, only 22. He is a great talent, if developed under the right manager, he will be a class act.
I agree although I don't quite understand how Dzeko for Muller would work. I don't see the comparison at all. Muller would challenge Nasri in all reality.
Nothing to do with game last night but I've said it in the past and I'll say it again, if we can't get De Rossi I think Schweinsteiger is the player we need. Midfield of Yaya and Basti playing behind Silva would be absolutely fucking awesome.

Flat track bully. Don't recall him ever having a great game in a big match when his team needed him, be that the rags, Real or Portugal. Excellent player against lesser opposition, currently in the top two in the world. But nothing more than that. Shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as a Baggio, let alone a Maradona.

Think you could be disappointed - England and then Chelsea have shown how to get a result against Spain/Barca. Unless Spain can work out how to play a different way occasionally they could be frustrated out of it. In a group with Italy and Ireland, I wouldn't be that surprised if they struggled to qualify.

I've watched Hummels a few times, especially since he's been linked with us, & was more impressed with him last night than on the other occasions. He had more of that that 'get stuck in' factor which you need in the Premier League.

I'm not taking the piss but to my surprise i felt Boateng was the stand out defender for Germany last night.
Hummels played very well also but i really have not seen much of him to know if he performs like that on a regular basis.

I've always thought, rightly or wrongly, that Hummels had a bit of the 'swaggering ponce' about him but he was very alert and dogged yesterday. Of course Portugal had no CF though, so we shall see how he gets on against proper strikers.
I thought Boateng made one good last ditch tackle but was stranded several times personally. Always a better option at fullback than CB though imo.

The way Messi moves the ball onto his left side at such pace for the 3rd goal prevents the defender from even diving in to block the shot. You could only kick him over to stop him. It is quite literally unstoppable otherwise.
(Note Aguero taking a corner & picking out one Argy player amongst 4 Brazil defenders.)
