Hummels signed an extension with Dortmund til 2016. Moot point. Wouldn't be surprised if big money came in for Subotic or Piszczek though - they've a fantastic back-line.

I didn't see the game, but Boateng looked great on the extended highlights. He's first choice for Bayern and Germany, so he must be doing something right. Then again, he was up against Helder Postiga.

'Spain XI v Italy: Casillas, Arbeloa, Piqué, Ramos, Alba; Busquets, Xabi Alonso, Xavi; Silva, Iniesta, Fàbregas'

4-6-0? An Australian style line up. Or an Everton one. I know Villa's out, but surely they could play Llorente, Torres, Soldado or whomever else. Odd.

6 of the best midfield players in the world...amazing to see the list. And Mata can't get a look and he's classy as well.

this should be an interesting match tactically based upon that lineup.

Mario should feature, correct? Where's the Italia lineup?

Italy XI v Spain: Buffon, Bonucci, De Rossi, Chiellini, Maggio, Motta, Pirlo, Marchisio, Giaccherini, Cassano, Balotelli

Great that Cassano has recovered to be playing at the top level again.

Glad I'm staying up for this one - really hope it doesn't disappoint. Spain 4-6-0, Italy 3-5-2, at least on paper.

Basically it's any of their front three - fluid interchange with no traditional striker. Theyre looking to confuse the hell out of the central defenders.

Silva doesn't need my support. He is world class, has proved it many times and Spain will win this group.
Mario still has a lot to prove but has a real opportunity/challenge here.
Good luck Mario.

Mario gets his obligatory booking but I don't think it's anything has bad as what's gone before. This ref is very lenient compared to the first ref.
