Nasri getting a raw deal from the press.

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Nasri getting a raw deal from the press.

Postby Piccsnumberoneblue » Tue Jun 12, 2012 5:59 am

He isn't my favourite player by a long chalk but I do have some sympathy for Nasri over the way his comments are taken by the press. There has been a perception that he came to City "for the money", indeed it seems to be commonly accepted as the truth. He has had to put up with this allegation all season and now when he points out that he was right all along to join City 'to win things' it is portrayed as snide remarks and a slur against that August institution that can do no wrong, Arsenal. If I was him I think I'd be pointing out that the proof was in the pudding, and that winning the title justified the move.
And yet still every utterance is twisted around with a negative slant. If RVP gets his move to a club with realistic chances of honours will he be treated with the same contempt.
Poor Arsenal eh? Well I think it's time their supporters and the media acknowledged that players can leave there to move on for footballing reasons and it isn't the crime of the century.
Having said that, I reckon that Samir should shut his face now, he has made his point, and if people can't see it now, they never will.

I totally agree. But football is more emotional than professional in this case, I read about RVP in the magazines and his family said that if he moves from Arsenal will be only for play out of England. I think the players do not contribute for the change of that scenary.

Nasri got a lot of stick from the Arsenal fans when he came to us, but to my mind he is paid enough to rise above it and not keep sniping back at them. He should just let his medal(s) do the talking and never mention Arsenal again.

As for RVP it would not surprise me at all to see him playing in England.

Arsenal fans have moved up to second place in my list of disliked fans

They must surely be considering changing the name of their club to Upourownarsenal and the manager to Upmyownarsen

They are such smug, self satisfied, complaining knobheads,I believe Rooneys dad was born in highbury

They also have collective amnesia regarding all their huge signings in the 90s (and mega pay deals), and corporate leming-like belief that football clubs are in existence to make a profit, not win trophies.

That’s what I really don’t get about Arsenal fans. Money aside, who is more likely to win trophies than any other club in the world? Even answering objectively, you have to say Man City.

There is a choice in a player’s career when they get to their peak (baring the exceptional Messi, Ronaldo etc who can walk into any team and play every week);

- be part of a rotated squad and win trophies (City, Barca, Real)
- or be the main man with no guarantee of trophies (Arsenal, Spurs)

Arsenal’s lack of investment and subsequent lack of trophies for the last 7 years means that their top players are forced into making this decision and they have no one to blame but themselves. If they went out and bought some genuine world class players, the decision wouldn’t be so clear but for now it’s a no brainer.

So the English press like to go for negative stories, well oh what a surprise! Nasri gives a reaction after scoring which is aimed at the french press but it doesnt stop all our media/press saying it was aimed at Neville.

If they arent thinking and writing negative stuff they are building a player or team up so they can slap them down later. And yet people still buy the trash.

Whatever those wankers say, one thing was evident from last night's game: Nasri is a better player than anyone currently available to play in England's midfield & it's not even close. And he'll get better by playing with people like Silva, Yaya & Aguero.

Surely that must also be a factor, with or without trophies ?

Obviously not a criticism of Silva, but I think sometimes, because both of them want to play centrally, everything gets a little bit crowded. Having said that, during the run in, both of them played really well together, so I guess what do I know?!?

Nasri was the best player on the pitch last night....had to be said.

He was excellent. Showed signs of that too towards the end of the season for us. Reckon he'll be awesome next year.

I think we tend to forget, with the huge turnover of players, that it's more common in football for a player not to be at his best in his first season for a club. We expect them to look like worldbeaters straight away, when on the whole that isn't how it works. Many of our best ever players have taken a year or two to settle in.

If anyone saw Dennis Tueart, ashen faced, watching Mike Doyle & Lou Macari kicking shit out of each other on his debut, you never would have imagined he'd be skinning defenders alive & scoring 20 odd goals two seasons later.

Nasri imo isn't an absolute top of the tree, world class player (not yet at least) but he's a class act & he's in the process of learning how to play with Silva etc & it needs time. I just wish Hazard could be joining them.
