A few years ago he wouldn't have to achieve much before we'd be ready to gamble with him. But now it's a different.
What would he need to do over the next handful of seasons to put himself in a position to succeed Bob? What would he have to achieve with Brentford to secure a higher profile job and which club would be a stepping stone for him? Revive a Wolves type club? Take a smaller club and thrive in the Prem a la Rodgers or Lambert? A cup win with somebody like Villa or Sunderland?
I assume we'd all love him to manage us successfully?

Apparently he was short listed for the Hull job. As if you do appoint The Elephant Man instead of Uwe! Bruce to be binned inside 12 months I reckon.
But it shows the sort of club who are taking notice of him.
His "Blueness" should go in his favour if he proves capable in management.

"Top name" in our case means someone with winning pedigree at the highest level. Probably even showing he can provide deep European runs. Basically, there's not much Uwe could realistically do in four years to get the job.

In ten years though, take Brentford up (very difficult) and then take one of the "sleeping giants" (Wednesday, Forest, Leeds.... maybe Ipswich or Middlesbrough) up and solidify them as Premier League club again, take over one of the big clubs just behind top (Tottenham, Liverpool) and win something with them and have deep European runs. That is doable in ten years.

I can see this happening. I think we will lose Bobby rather than sack him when he eventualy takes the Italian Job, I expect Platt to move in to hot seat at that point, you can already see him being groomed with the number of interviews he does and love or hate him the team has improved since his arrival. Doubt Kidd will go back in to management so think he will stick to same role and then the club will bring in another young coach. Uwe would be perfect. If he does well he copuld move up, if he fails we move him on with no real damage done
